hab texlive über's Internet installiert, es läuft auch im Prinzip, allerdings werden wohl einige essentielle Dateien nicht gefunden:

!LaTeX Error: File 'article.cls' not found.

'article.cls' kann ich mit 'find -name article.cls' finden (mit kpsewhich allerdings nicht) und den Pfad angeben, aber so richtig sinnvoll erscheint mir diese Methode nicht. Kann man texlive irgendwie beibringen, dass es sich dann merkt, wo die Dateien liegen?

jetzt habe ich alles, was mit tex zu tun hatte deinstalliert und auch sämtliche (hoffentlich) Tex-Ordner gelöscht und texlive 2009 mit tlmgr noch mal installiert. Hat aber nichts geholfen, die 'article.cls und 'size10.clo' werden nicht gefunden, obwohl sie vorhanden sind. Wie bringe ich texlive dazu, immer im richtigen Ordner zu suchen?

Leider hast Du Deine Ubuntu-Version nicht angegeben, so daß man nur raten kann. Ab Lucid ist TeXlive in der Version 2009-07 in den Repositories, Du kannst also ganz normal via Synaptic installieren 😉

Schonmal eine andere Klasse versucht, zB. die Koma-Klassen?

Hallo, danke für die Hilfe. Ich arbeite mit Jaunty 9.04. Über Synaptic habe ich auch schon mal versucht, zu installieren, hat aber auch nicht funktioniert. Die Datei liegt in '/usr/local/texlive/2009/texmf-dist/tex/latex/base/article.cls Gruß, Siggi.

Wenn nicht so was kommt wie:

pdfTeX 3.1415926-1.40.10-2.2 (TeX Live 2009)
kpathsea version 5.0.0

Dann musst du vorher das TexLive aus den Ubuntu Repository vollständig löschen.

Ansonsten hast du vermutlich vergessen die wichtigsten Schemas zu installieren. Gib dazu bitte die Ausgabe von dem Befehl:

tlmgr list > pakete.txt

Aber Achtung die Ausgabe ist sehr lang, deswegen habe ich die auf die Datei pakete.txt weitergeleitet. Wenn du die Ausgabe hier postest verwende dazu dann bitte einen Codeblock.

Hm, jetzt hab' ich sogar schon miktex installiert und wieder deinstalliert, auf ubuntu 10.04 "upgraded" und texlive raus und wieder rein, aber das Problem bleibt:

article.cls not found.

Dasselbe passiert auch noch mit anderen Dokumenten, obwohl die jeweiligen *.cls vorhanden sind. Hat jemand ähnliche Probleme?
