Hi zusammen,
ich würde mich mit über 10 Jahren Linux-Erfahrung nicht gerade als Anfänger bezeichnen, aber sowas habe ich noch nicht erlebt. Ich habe hier folgende Konstellation:
Dell Latitude E7440 Ultrabook mit Ubuntu 13.10 64 bit
Grafikkarte Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0b)
Benq LED Monitor, per DVI-Kabel an den Port Replicator angeschlossen
Sämtliche Peripherie (USB Maus/Tastatur-Kombination, Netzwerk, …), die sonst noch am Port Replicator hängt, wird problemlos erkannt. Auch der Monitor wird von xrandr korrekt als DP2 angezeigt:

In der GUI voon Ubuntu für die Bildschirmeinstellung wird der Monitor auch als Benq Monitor erkannt und ich kann ihn auch konfigurieren. Allerdings erscheint auf dem Bildschirm nach dem Übernehmen der Einstellungen kein Bild, der Monitor bleibt einfach schwarz und die Anzeige sagt "No Cable connected", die Status-LED des Monitors blinkt.
Das Kabel und die DVI-Ports auf beiden Seiten (Monitor & Port Replicator) funktioniert mit einem anderen Notebook mit Windows 7 einwandfrei
Im BIOS habe ich keinerlei Einstellungen gefunden, die hier Probleme bereiten könnten
Ich kann einen Monitor mit HDMI problemlos am Notebook direkt anschließen
Monitor direkt per DVI am Notebook anschließen habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert, das Notebook nur einen HDMI- und einen Mini-DisplayPort-Ausgang hat
