Guten Morgen! Nachdem ich ein Internetproblem dank Expertenhilfe hier aus dem Forum lösen konnte, habe ich nun ein noch nervigeres...
Nach dem Installieren von 14.04 gestern früh funktionierte das Touchpad meines Terra Mobile Ultrabook 1450 II wunderbar - seit heute morgen geht es überhaupt nicht mehr. Die externe Maus funktioniert (ist aber sehr schlecht, was allerdings unter Windows auch schon so war, also an der Maus liegt), das Touchpad tut nüscht. Ich habe mehrfach versucht, es über FN-Tasten wieder anzustellen, funktioniert aber nicht. Dann habe ich nach einigem googeln rausgefunden, dass es ein Problem mit diesem PC ist - http://www.linux-hardware-guide.de/2013-05-09-wortmann-terra-mobile-1450-ii-ultrabook-intel-core-i3-3217u-1-8ghz-14-non-glare-led-4gb-120gb-ssd Die dort vorgeschlagene Lösung habe ich erfolgreich ausgeführt - war ganz stolz auf mich - und dennoch tut sich nichts.

wobei du die ID des Geräts aus dem ersten Befehl entnehmen kannst. Den Inhalt der Datei /var/log/Xorg.0.log könntest du auch noch anhängen.

Der XServer erkennt das Touchpad überhaupt nicht. Ich habe dazu noch Bug-Report 1094693 gefunden, den du bei dieser Gelegenheit wiederbeleben könntest, weil das Problem offensichtlich noch nicht gelöst wurde. Und dieses Thema 🇬🇧 im Linux-Mint-Forum beschäftigt sich auch mit dem Problem, allerdings ebenfalls ergebnislos. Funktioniert das Touchpad denn, wenn du ein Live-System von Ubuntu 14.04 startest? Damit könnte man vielleicht einschränken, ob das Problem erst mit einer Aktualisierung des Systems (wieder)aufgetreten ist.

Hey!
Na das klingt ja ziemlich bloede...
Von der Live CD besteht das Problem leider weiterhin, das Touchpad reagiert ueberhaupt nicht.
Allerdings geht dann die USB Maus ploetzlich, vorher war die immer fuer 2 Sekunden an, dann wieder eine Weile aus, d.h. vielleicht liegt das doch nicht an der Maus sondern daran, dass das falsch konfiguriert ist? Was kann ich denn jetzt machen, wenn es keine Loesung gibt? Kannst Du erkennen, ob man die USB Maus zumindest irgendwie reparieren kann?
Komisch finde ich, dass es waehrend des ersten Tages noch funktioniert hat... edit. Die USB Maus funktioniert doch nicht... Waren nur die ersten 3 Minuten...

Das Gerät verwendet doch EFI Bootmanagement statt dem klassischen BIOS. Sieh dort mal nach, ob du zufällig von EFI Boot auf Legacy Boot umstellen kannst. Wenn ja, dann machen und nochmal mit einem Live-System versuchen. Sollte das nicht funktionieren, musst du wieder auf EFI Boot zurückstellen, weil dein persistentes System im EFI-Modus installiert wurde. Sollte das eine Verbesserung bringen, dann beibehalten und Ubuntu nochmal - also nicht im EFI-Modus - installieren.

Du muss beim Start des Geräts in das, was uns allgemein als BIOS bekannt ist. Das ist auch im Wiki-Artikel EFI Grundlagen erläutert.

Ich habe das mal probiert. Gruselige Sache, das... Aber erfolgreich war es (??) doch. Ich habe das generelle Booten auf UEFI und Legacy umgestellt von Only UEFI. Vorher hatte ich noch was anderes umgestellt auf nur Legacy, aber da hat er sich nur noch jedes Mal aufgehangen. Jetzt bin ich in Ubuntu, ohne Live-CD, und mein Touchpad geht wieder. Oder im Moment auf jeden Fall. Darf ich dem Trauen? Ich hab doch gar nichts gemacht... Und gilt weiterhin, dass ich Linux nochmal aufsetzen muss?

Das erschreckt einen nur am Anfang, wenn man mit EFI/BIOS wenig Erfahrung hat. Aber erfolgreich war es (??) doch.

Eigentlich sollte Ubuntu problemlos Legacy only booten können. Wenn beides verfügbar ist, wie bei deiner Einstellung, weiß ich nicht, ob Ubuntu dann standardmäßig UEFI oder Legacy verwendet. Aber wenn es funktioniert, ist das schon ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung. Jetzt bin ich in Ubuntu, ohne Live-CD, und mein Touchpad geht wieder. Oder im Moment auf jeden Fall.
Das lässt schon mal hoffen. Vielleicht mal eine Weile laufen lassen und dann mal schauen, ob das bei einem Neustart des Live-Systems weiterhin funktioniert. Darf ich dem Trauen? Ich hab doch gar nichts gemacht... Und gilt weiterhin, dass ich Linux nochmal aufsetzen muss?
Es ist bekannt, dass UEFI bei der Hardwareerkennung manchmal problematisch in Verbindung mit Linux ist. Das ist nicht allgemeingültig, aber viele bleiben deswegen bei Legacy, wenn verfügbar. Das System selber muss du nicht neu installieren, aber der Bootloader GRUB 2 wurde im UEFI-Modus installiert und müsste möglicherweise einmal neu installiert werden. Das ist im Wiki-Artikel GRUB 2/Reparatur erklärt. Falls dir IRC nicht zu fremd ist, kannst du dort mal im Support-Channel vorbeischauen. Da geben dir Anwender dann live Hilfestellung dazu, die sich mit dieser Materie etwas besser auskennen als ich.

Ich hab das selbe Problem, nur dass bei mir die Umstellung auf legacy dann nur für 1,2 reboots hält. danach ist alles wieder beim alten.
