hallo,
ich habe mir vor einigen tagen die aktuelle ubuntu dapper (6.06.1 LTS) installiert und wollte natürlich gleich mal compiz/xgl ausprobieren - was mich zumindest grafisch sofort überzeugt hat.

zuerst mal mein system:

cpu: Athlon 3500+ (Boxed)
mboard: MSI K8N SLI-F, S.939 NVIDIA Nforce4 SLI
ram: 1024MB DDR Corsair PC3200/400 CL 2,5 Corsair (2x512MB)
gpu: Leadtek PX6600GT TDH Extreme Geforce 6600GT,128MB, PCIe
bei der installation habe ich mich an die wiki-artikel von ubuntuusers gehalten (xgl und compiz)

nun bekomme ich bei jedem start folgende zeilen in die .xsession-errors eingetragen:

bei manchen starts erscheint auch in einem seperaten fenster folgender text:

Beim Starten des GNOME-Einstellungsdämons ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.
Möglicherweise funktionieren einige Dinge, wie z.B. Themen, Klänge oder Hintergrundeinstellungen nicht korrekt.
Der Einstellungsdämon wurde zu oft neu gestartet.
Die letzte Fehlermeldung war:
System exception: IDL:Bonobo/GeneralError:1.0 : Kindprozess gab keine Fehlermeldung aus. Ein unbekannter Störfall trat auf
Beim nächsten Anmelden wird GNOME weiterhin versuchen, den Einstellungsdämon neu zu starten.

hin und wieder passiert es auch, dass er nach der anmeldung an xgl (wiki-methode 1) nicht merklich etwas lädt und nach 10 sekunden nur die meldung ausspuckt, dass etwas nicht geklappt hat. im detail folgendes:

im prinzip also fast das gleiche, was sowieso in der .xsession-errors steht.

im forum und anderen wikis habe ich zu genau dem problem noch nichts gefunden, bin über jede hilfe dankbar.

Ich habe auch genau das selbe Problem, habe lustigerweise auch eine Nvidia 6600
Bei mir wird es wenn ich bei starten gleich in die Cube gehe geladen, stellt aber xgl nach 10 Sekunden
aus, wenn ich nichts drücke kommt exakt die selbe Fehlermeldung.

Hi, zuerst mal einen kleinen Tip, vielleicht einen etwas deutlicheren Titel wählen. Das du ein Problem mit compiz und co. hast kann sich jeder denken weil du es ja im entsprechenden Forum schreibst.

Zu deinem Fehler, was noch nützlich wäre, wobei ich nicht weiß ob ich dir helfen kann bin auch noch neu bei der Geschichte, wäre zu wissen nach welchem howto du die ganze Sache installiert hast und welchen NV Treiber du verwendest.

Stimmt - das ist vielleicht nicht ganz deutlich rübergekommen. Als Grafiktreiber benutze ich (wie im Wiki empfohlen) das packet nvidia-glx.

Probier mal die neusten NV ist recht einfrach zu installieren, steht auch im Wiki wie das geht. Und schreib mal nach welcher anleitung du vorgegangen bist.

Aye - danke für deinen Rat. Ich werde ihn aber wohl besser nicht befolgen - nach dem compiz/cgwd/…-update heute hab ich keine Probleme mehr. In die .xsession-errors werden zwar bei jeder (xgl/compiz)-Anmeldung immer noch folgende Zeilen eingetragen, jedoch bekomme ich direkt keine Fehlermeldungen/Abstürze mehr…und das bei 10-minütigem Dauer-Ein/Ausloggen und X-Server neustarten…offenbar haben die Updates das Problem gelöst.

Huch. Muss ich doch glatt auch mal wieder versuchen. Also zu meiner wenigkeit habs genau nach dem Wikieintrag gemacht, und zuvor hab ichs au dem Laptop getestet, naja, mal schauen obs nun auch klappt, wenn nicht eröffne ich noch ein eigenes Thread.
