demnach ist sdb ja defeniti defect allerdings hatte ich dehn sync ja erst nach dem neustart manuel eingeleitet, also aus der recovery console!
wenn sie jetzt also sync ist dann muß es alles ohne mein zutun passiert sein also voll automatisch und das ist ja nun nich typisch was ich so drüber gelesen habe oder ?
Wenn das so ist müste ich ja nur noch dem bootmaneger mitteilen das er nun von sda booten soll stat sdb oder ?

Also das sieht auf den ersten Blick so aus als hättest du ein md0 das gar nicht mehr funktioniert und ein md1 das nur noch von sdb3 lebt. Kannst du auch noch smartctl -a für /dev/sda und /dev/sdb, und mdadm --examine für /dev/md0 und /dev/md1 posten? Und das sda (statt sda1) in md0 sein soll macht auch überhaupt keinen Sinn, das ist entweder kompletter Schrott oder am Ende doch FakeRAID.

Sorry, examine und detail verwechselt. Bitte mdadm --detail /dev/md* und mdadm --examine /dev/sd* . Den SMART-Daten nach ist dein /dev/sdb voll kaputt (unzählige Reallocated Sectors, dazu Pending, kommt also noch mehr ⇒ Schrott), /dev/sda dagegen sieht in Ordnung aus, ist auch eine nagelneue Platte (nur 700 Stunden Laufzeit). sdb muss also auf jeden Fall getauscht werden, Problem ist natürlich daß dein mdstat so aussieht als wären auf sda gar keine Daten drauf. Wenn man davon ausgeht daß die Platte neu in die Kiste kam war die einen Monat drin ohne im RAID zu arbeiten. Da sdb Lesefehler produzieren wird käme dann nur noch ddrescue in Frage.

Ja wie gesagt bissel über 3 wochen war sie drin und hat demnach nicht gearbeitet hat sich halt mit meinen urlaub überschnitten das rächt sich jetzt gerade !

Na damit meint er:
parted /dev/sda unit s print free
parted /dev/sdb unit s print free
Derweil kannst du schon mal gddrescue lesen, bis er sich wieder meldet. Ich hab übrigens für solche Zwecke extra Testsysteme, geht wunderbar mit Qemu oder Virtualbox. Da kannst du sowas vor oder im Ernstfall einfach selbst mal durchtesten, etwa das Verhalten so eines RAIDs. Mit solchen Klicktools lernst du das nicht. Siehst ja, was für ein Murks da nun eingestellt ist. Du solltest nun aber schnellstens die wichtigsten Dateien retten. Und sowas regelmäßig, wenn man sich schon mit RAID nicht so gut auskennt - und RAID ist ja auch kein Backup, weil Softwarefehler auch kopiert werden. Bei Problemdateien gddrescue#Dateiwiederherstellung. Später kann dann das Sichern eines Images und ggf. Download noch weitere Stunden bzw. eher Tage dauern, vor allem wegen der Defekte. Dann will ich mal nicht weiter stören, ihr macht das schon. Grüße, Benno Edit: Übrigens klappte bei mir das Mounten einer einzelnen Platte, die aus dem RAID ausgeschlossen und mit ro und ext4 gemountet werden sollte, wegen RAID-Headern auch nicht. Bin der Sache nicht weiter nachgegangen.

Jo an vbx habe ich auch schon gedacht aber wie soll man da fehler einbauen! *G
Du kannst die virtuelle Platte abstöpseln bzw. neu an oder eine neue rein, das reicht doch für deinen Zweck des Syncs. Du könntest die Daten der einen Platte auch mit dd verändern oder zwischen An- und Abstöpseln wird sie möglicherweise von selbst verändert.

ich benutze immer virtualbox zum virtualisieren, nur da kann man im laufendnen betrieb keine massenspeicher ein oder ausbinden!

Das --examine bitte so wie ichs geschrieben hab auf /dev/sd* mdadm --examine /dev/sd* Du hast ja doch Partitionen in halbwegs richtiger Größe auf sda. Also irgendwas muss da ja gemacht worden sein. Ob dann Daten darauf sind musst du jetzt selber wissen/schauen. Wenn deine RAID-Metadaten-Version überall 0.90 ist müsstest du es direkt mounten können. mkdir /mnt/sda1
mount -o loop,ro /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
cd /mnt/sda1
ls usw. sonstwasduwillst
^ und das gleiche für sda2 sda3 usw. Sollte sich dabei herausstellen, daß auf sda ganz bestimmt gar keine Daten von dir liegen, kannst du dein teildefektes sdb komplett auf sda transferieren (mit ddrescue oder dd conv=noerror,sync, oder auch rsync wenn du meinst daß das Dateisystem auf sdb trotz defekter Sektoren noch okay ist). So oder so würde ich dir empfehlen eine komplette Sicherung deiner Daten zu machen, sdb dann tauschen zu lassen, und dann den Server komplett neu aufzusetzen. Das ist wohl unter den Umständen die einfachste Methode hier wieder ein ordentliches RAID zustandezubringen. Die manuelle Variante wäre ansonsten, mit einer Platte Partitionen, RAID-1 (zweite Platte als missing) und Dateisysteme nach Gusto anzulegen und mit rsync -a die Dateien draufzukopieren. Und sobald die Kiste von dieser einen Platte bootet, die andere Platte ins RAID hinzuzufügen und ebenso mit Bootloader zu versehen. Aber bei der Lösung darf man eben nicht mit der Kommandozeile auf Kriegsfuss stehen, sondern man muss eben wissen wie RAID, Dateisysteme usw. funktionieren.

Nach dem --examine war sda[1,3] mal Teil des RAIDs. Wird aber nur als Spare gelistet, also es besteht die Möglichkeit, daß der Sync da (wegen Fehlern auf sdb?) nie durchgelaufen ist. Normalerweise bei einem Fail von sda würde sich sda in seinem --examine als vollwertiges Mitglied denken und nicht als Spare. Ich *vermute* daher, daß die Daten auf sda nicht brauchbar sein werden, aber das musst du eben selbst nachprüfen.
mount: unknown filesystem type 'linux_raid_member'
Okay, da muss beim mount dann noch -t ext4 oder sowas dazu da mount sich standardmäßig wehrt, ein RAID Member direkt zu mounten. Mit -o loop,ro geht mount über ein read-only loop-device, ist daher unkritisch. Bei einem unvollständigen Sync von sda* kann es sein, daß das Dateisystem gemountet wird, und dir Dateistrukturen angezeigt werden, die Dateiinhalte selbst aber nicht in Ordnung sind. Wie gesagt: Sichere alles was du findest, und dann setze die Kiste neu auf.

das mache ich sowiso und ich hätte es auch schoin längs platt gemacht, nur ich habe plesk auf dem system und würde gerne ein backup über plesk machen um es hinterher einfach zu migrieren!
