Mahlzeit, ich bin mittlerweile völlig am verzweifeln. Bis vor 2 Wochen hatte ich Ubuntu 8.04 installiert, wo die Druckerfreigabe für den HP Laserjet 6L am Windowsrechner ohne Probleme funktionierte.
Jetzt bin ich auf Xubuntu 8.10 umgestiegen, und nichts geht so, wie es soll:
Samba ist mittlerweile installiert, und ich kann auch über die Arbeitsgruppe den Drucker finden.
Dummerweise bleiben alle Druckaufträge in der Warteschlange hängen, der Druckerstatus wechselt nach 15 Sek. ca. auf "Connection failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED", etwas später zu "Unable to connect to CIFS host, will retry in 60 seconds". Mit Dateifreigaben ist das Problem ähnlich:
Ich sehe zwar die freigegebenen Ordner, kann sie aber nicht öffnen.
Das ganze ist also offensichtlich ein problem mit den Rechten, nur weiß ich nicht, was ich wo einstellen muss, um das zu ändern.
Viele Tipps, die ich gelesen habe zielten auf die Aktivierung des Gast-Accounts auf dem XP-Rechner, aber das hat auch nicht geholfen, genauso wie herumexperimentieren mit Benutzernamen bei der Druckereinrichtung ("Gast", "gast", "guest", sowie der reguläre accountname auf dem XP-Rechner).
Was mache ich falsch? Übrigens kann ich ebensowenig vom XP-Rechner aus auf die Xubuntu-Freigaben zugreifen (wegen fehlender Rechte) Hier noch die vollst. smb.conf, falls es hilft.

Hallo, ich habe das gleiche Problem. Ich betreibe meinen Drucker an einem NAS Qnap. Unter 8.04 läuft der Drucker einwandfrei. Auf dem gleichen Rechner in einer anderen Partition mit 8.10 läuft er nicht. Auf meinem neuen Rechner unter 8.10 auch nicht.
Ich bekomme die Meldungen "Can't prompt for authorization" oder "Too many failed attempts" je nachdem, aus welchem Programm ich drucke.
Eine Testseite beim Einrichten des Druckers kann ich ohne Probleme ausdrucken! Dabei kommt auch keinerlei Fehlermeldung: Page 1 (Scheduler not running?):

Es könnte sein, dass das Problem etwas zu tun hat mit "Bug #286828 Access to samba 3.0.24-3.0.25 shares using CIFS is broken on 8.10"
Der Patch dazu wurde aber erst heute erstellt. Ich weiß auch nicht wie ich diese Optionen für Drucker Shares einstellen könnte. Siehe auch "Canon iP2500 wird erkannt, druckt aber nicht!", das ist vielleicht das gleiche Problem.

Habe das Problem jetzt teilweise in den Griff bekommen:
Drucken geht jetzt wieder, die wesentliche Änderung war, in der Addresszeile bei der Druckereinrichtung nicht den Namen des Windowsrechners, sondern dessen IP einzugeben. Evtl haben aber auch smb.conf-Änderungen mit reingespielt. @Sammod:
Die beiden genannten Fehlermeldungen hatte ich auch, selbst als der Drucker per Testseite schon ging. Ich habe dann in der printers.conf Datei von CUPS die Zeile "AuthReq username,password" gelöscht bzw auskommentiert, das hat geholfen. Einige Probleme habe ich noch: 1. Ich kann per smbmount und Terminal "normale" freigegebene Ordner mounten, lesen, schreiben geht da ohne Probleme. Aber ich kann nicht einfach den "root"-Ordner, also praktisch //ZUmountenderPCName/ mounten, da gibt er mir immer einen Fehler aus. Genauso wie wenn ich versuche, ein ganzes freigegebenes Laufwerk des anderen Rechners zu mounten. 2. Gebe ich auf dem Linux-PC Ordner frei, sehe ich zwar alle Freigaben vom Windowsrechner aus, kann aber ausschließlich lesend auf mein Homeverzeichnis zugreifen, wenn das freigegeben ist, aber auf keine Unterordner und Schreibzugriff geht auch nicht, obwohl er aktiviert ist. 3. pyNeighboorhood kann gar keine Freigaben des Windowsrechners mounten. Es kommt immer nur die Meldung "Failed to mount".

Ja, das ist ein Teil der Lösung (nutze auch intrepid).
Ich finde es noch wichtig zu erwähnen, dass man cups vorher beenden sollte: sudo /etc/init.d/cups stop Danach kann man mit dem Editor seiner Wahl -ich habe da gedit benutzt-,
die printers.conf bearbeiten: sudo gedit /etc/cups/printers.conf dann der Zeile "AuthReq username,password"
ein Rautezeichen voranstellen oder ganz löschen.
Sollte dann, wie MrWayne schon schieb, so aussehen: #AuthReq username,password Nur noch speichern, den Editor wieder schließen und
Cups mit diesen Befehl neustarten: sudo /etc/init.d/cups start Nun sollte man aus jedem Programm heraus problemlos drucken können ☺ . Wegen dem Problem mit NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.
Hatte in Cups beim Drucken der Testseite immer diese Fehlermeldung,
bis ich in Windows XP unter Systemsteuerung-Ordneroptionen-Ansicht
ein Häckchen unter "Einfache Dateifreigabe verwenden" gesetzt hatte.
Vielleicht hilfts ja irgendwie weiter ☺ .

Habe das selbe Problem auch seit ich das System auf Ubuntu 9.4 aktualisiert habe. Versuchte nun alle hier bislang vorgeschlagenen Lösungen. Leider fehlt bei mir eine Authorisation-Zeile. Bei mir sieht der Block in der Printers.conf so aus:

Gebe zu, nicht wirklich viel Ahnung zu haben von Programmieren, habe aber doch schon ein paar Dinge verändern ausprobiert, aber es half alles nichts. Gibt es irgend eine Lösung, wenn ich weder "AuthReq" noch "AuthInfoRequired" oder ähnliches habe?

Ich habe den Eindruck, dass sich in diesem Thread jetzt eine ganze Reihe verschiedener Probleme angesammelt haben, die ganz unterschiedliche Ursachen haben.
Bei den Drucker-Problemen muss man genau unterscheiden, ob der Drucker über Cups oder Samba konfiguriert und angesprochen wird. Außerdem sind noch ein paar Samba-Probleme angesprochen, die mit Drucken direkt nichts zu tun haben.
@MrWayne: Genauso wie wenn ich versuche, ein ganzes freigegebenes Laufwerk des anderen Rechners zu mounten.
Was meinst Du hier mit "mounten"? Mit cifs müsste es gehen. "Verbindung zu Server → Windows-Freigabe" geht aber grundsätzlich nicht für ganze Laufwerke. Gebe ich auf dem Linux-PC Ordner frei, sehe ich zwar alle Freigaben vom Windowsrechner aus, kann aber ausschließlich lesend auf mein Homeverzeichnis zugreifen, wenn das freigegeben ist, aber auf keine Unterordner und Schreibzugriff geht auch nicht, obwohl er aktiviert ist.
Sind die Freigaben mit Gast-Zugriff (ohne Passwort) erstellt? Dann greift Windows als Gast ("nobody") zu, und Gäste haben meist keine Schreibrechte. Lösung: Entweder Schreibrechte für jedermann festlegen (kann gefährlich sein), oder den Gast-Zugriff sperren. pyNeighboorhood kann gar keine Freigaben des Windowsrechners mounten. Es kommt immer nur die Meldung "Failed to mount".
Der Mountpunkt muss vor dem Mounten demjenigen gehören, der mountet. Wird mit sudo gemountet, dann ist das Root. Wird ohne sudo gemountet, ist das der jeweilige Benutzer. Bei den anderen Drucker-Problemen weiß ich im Moment keine Lösung. Es kann sein, dass es sich um Probleme bei der Namens-Auflösung handelt. Dann hilft es, statt des Server-Namens dessen IP einzutragen. Gruß - Max-Ulrich

Wichtig wäre auch das du prüfst ob die Namensauflösung geht, nicht das hier schon CUPS/Samba scheitern. Das passiert in letzter Zeit leider recht häufig, da viele ISPs so eine "Navigationshilfe" ausliefern die für lokale DNS Störungen verantwortlich ist. mfg Betz Stefan PS: Siehe hierzu hier

In der Datei /etc/cups/printers.conf auskommentieren (# der Zeile voranstellen).
