Gezielt für Videos kenne ich das in den Playereinstellungen, Filter anwenden, heller, Kontrast, Gamma...
Aus der Manpage von mplayer:
(The following keys are valid only when using a video output that supports the corresponding adjustment, the software equalizer (--vf=eq or
--vf=eq2) or hue filter (--vf=hue).)
1 and 2
Adjust contrast.
3 and 4
Adjust brightness.
5 and 6
Adjust hue.
7 and 8
Adjust saturation.
Soll man auch direkt in die Konfigurationsdatei schreiben können, Beispiel aus der Manpage:
# Eerie negative images are cool.
vf=eq2=1.0:-0.8
Systemweit (dann aber nicht nur für Videos) ginge das mittels xrandr

2010 war mal das der Stand:
the intel windows drivers do offer contrast (per channel), but the linux drivers don't support this as of yet. you could send intel a support request for this, maybe they are working on it.
