Because it took me more than 30 minutes on the Gnome IRC channel to figure out how to add Photos from your (local) file system to Gnome Photos, here you go:
1. Open up Settings > Search
2. Select the "Photos" icon by clicking on it in the list
3. Click on the "gears" icon (bottom right) to open up the "Search locations" screen
4. Select any folder you wish to use.
The indexing of image files in the selected folders starts immediately.

Nachdem ich dem Tip gefolgt bin und via Einstellungen → Suche → Bilder aktiviert hatte, fing die Platte an, endlos zu rödeln. Was bei einigen tausend Photos ja zwar nicht verwundert, wenn die Fotos zunächst indexiert werden wollen, was aber kein Mensch wirklich braucht.
Es gibt ja z.B. gthumb, shotwell etc. Wozu dieser App-Sch***?
