Hi, nach dem Einspielen der Updates für mein 16.04.3 System (vor einer Woche), kann ich die natürliche Auflösung meines externen Monitors nicht mehr herstellen. Die wurde vorher sogar automatisch eingestellt. Hier die Details meines Systems: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS (64bit), Unity Desktop Laptop: Lenovo T530 Bildschirm: Samsung (U28E590D) via DisplayPort angeschlossen. Natürliche Auflösung: ca. 3000x2500 (ich weiss die exakten Werte nicht mehr - es wird mir nirgends mehr angezeigt), aktuell nur noch 1920x1080 (sieht bei dem Monitor nicht mehr schön aus) Hier meine Intel Graphic Info: | lspci -nnk | grep "VGA\|'Kern'\|3D\|Display" -A2

Hi Berlin, ich hab gerade einen "Workaround" gefunden. Wenn ich während des Betriebs das DisplayPort-Kabel entferne und wieder anstecke, dann bekomme ich meine korrekte Auflösung von 3840x2160 (und wird auch gleich eingestellt). Ein Neustart des Systems dagegen hilft nicht. Aber hier die dpkg info: 1

Hi avg50, meine Idee ist mit einer älteren Kernelversion zu booten und schauern, ob dort der Monitor erkannt wird. Dann könnte es mit den Update zu tun haben. Ältere Kernelversionen findest du beim booten unter "Previous Linux Versions" und dann auf der neuen Seite denn nach unten gehen . Siehe die 2 Bilder im Verlinkten Wiki Kernel.

Die Auflösung wird nicht angeboten weil der Grafiktreiber der Meinung ist nicht die nötigen Frequenzen zu unterstützen, näheres müsste man im Kernel Log nachschlagen. Dürfte eine Regression des Intel Treibers sein, das Problem tauchte hier vor einer Weile schon mal auf.

Hi Berlin, ja, mir wird im Grubmenu noch der 4.10.0-42 angeboten, und da tritt das Problem tatsächlich nicht auf. Irgendwo zwischen 4.10.0-42 und 4.13.0-32 ist wohl was mit den Inteltreibern passiert.

Da er mir nicht anbietet, die fehlenden Packete gleich mit zu installieren, scheint die Packetabhängigkeit bei meinem System wohl nicht so einfach auflösbar zu sein. An weitere manuelle Änderungen traue ich mich noch nicht heran (wie im Link genannt kann das zu einem instabilen System führen), sondern werde das Kabel einfach wenn nötig ab- und wiederanstecken - so lange das noch funktioniert ☺

Einerseits ist das Paket so oder so das falsche: LTS Enablement Stacks; Andererseits wird dieser Intel X Treiber schon seit längerem für alle halbwegs aktuellen Chips überhaupt nicht mehr verwendet, weil Intel diese Komponente am langen Arm verhungern lässt und man sich damit oft nur weitere Probleme einhandelt. Da das Teil letztendlich auch nur ein Verbindungsstück zwischen dem eigentlichen Treiber und dem X Server ist reicht der universale modesetting X Treiber der jetzt standardmäßig verwendet wird üblicherweise völlig aus - die Schnittstelle zu den freien Kernel Grafiktreibern wurde mit KMS und Glamor ohnehin vereinheitlicht. Das Problemkind sitzt im Kernel, auf dieser Ebene kommst du ohnehin nicht weiter.
