scannen mit Brother MFC-7320 geht nicht

Jetzt hat es auch mich erwischt, ich habe heute 18.04.1 installiert und der Scanner vom MFC-7320 zickt. Bisher (16.04) lief alles super. Drucken geht problemlos.
Gruppe scanner eingerichtet, Installation nach https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Scanner/Brother/ durchgeführt.
Benötigt wird brscan3, habe sowohl die bisher (16.04) von mir verwendete Version brscan3-0.2.11-5.amd64.deb als auch die neuere Version brscan3-0.2.13-1.amd64.deb versucht
und auch das von mir bisher (16.04) verwendete brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.0-1.all.deb als auch das neuere brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.2-0.all.deb versucht.

Simple-Scan am Host geht, an einem Client nicht.

sudo sane-find-scanner am Host findet den Scanner, scanimage -L am Host liefert als Fehler

scanimage: symbol lookup error: scanimage: undefined symbol: md5_buffer

sudo apt purge brscan3 libsane1:i386 

Danach

sudo apt-get install --reinstall sane sane-utils libsane1 

Dann die Ausgabe von

export SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 && scanimage -L

Zeige alle Ausgaben.

Simple-Scan geht wieder, Scan vom Client (Rechner meiner Frau) geht nicht.

Die Links nach /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane etc. hatte ich schon vorher gesetzt, hatte ich dort gefunden: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends/+bug/1707352

ich arbeite hier auf meinem Rechner, das MFC-7320 hängt über USB dran. Meine Frau möchte aber auch mal scannen (von ihrem eigenen Rechner, das funzte bisher (16.04)).

Meinst du nicht das du denn auch diese ganzen Abfragen auf dem PC deiner Frau machen solltest??

1. Erst mal VIELEN DANK für Deine Hilfe.
2. Das Client-Problem mit saned habe ich gerade selbst gelöst: die /etc/sane.d/dll.conf enthielt keine Zeile mit 'net', nur 'brother3'. Die Datei habe ich wohl irgendwie zerschossen, vorher war die viel länger.
