Liebes Forum,
ich bin frisch im Linux Universum und habe mich daran versucht Ubuntu auf meinem 2012 Macbook Pro
zu installieren. Es läuft auch jetzt alles recht rund, bis auf eine Sache, bei der ich nicht weiterkomme.
Ich muss mit nomodeset booten, sonst bekomme ich einen schwarzen Bildschirm.
Das ist soweit kein Problem, bis auf das ich die Auflösung im Display nicht einstellen kann.
Wenn ich die Live-Cd boote, wird mir die korrekte Auflösung angezeigt und sieht schick aus.
Bei der installierten Version wird es leider nicht erkannt.
Es ist für mich eher ein kosmetisches Problem und kratzt ein bisschen an meiner Eitelkeit, das Ding hier richtig zum Laufen zu bingen. Bei xrandr wird mir folgendes angezeigt. xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

Eigentlich müsste das Gerät zwei Grafikkarten haben, die integrierte Intel HD und die dedizierte AMD Radeon HD (siehe auch Wiki Hybrid-Grafikkarten). Versuche es statt der Bootoption nomodeset mit modprobe.blacklist=radeon . Dann sollte nur der intel-Treiber geladen werden, was dein Problem schon lösen könnte.

Mensch! Warum kontrollierst Du nicht im gestarteten System welches Modul geladen wurde? Ich könnte wetten, dass mit Deiner Tipperei das "radeon-Modul" eben nicht ausgeschlossen wurde und doch geladen wurde. Und wenn alle Stricke reißen, warum schaust Du nicht in der Live-Version nach welches Modul zur Grafikausgabe geladen wird und welche Grafikhardware da benutzt wird? Und wenn Du nicht weiter weißt, dann gib wenigstens mal im laufenden System die Ausgabe von:
lsmod
hier an (natürlich als "Textblock" in den geschweiften Klammern ge-postet).

Ja, ich bin ein Mensch und kein Hellseher und bei Deinem Laptop ist der Mensch davor gefordert. Da ich kein Hellseher bin kann ich nur raten unter welchem laufenden System jetzt von Dir die Ausgabe von lsmod ist. Ist das von einer bereits installierten Version und wenn von welcher oder von einem Live-System und dann auch von welchem und mit oder ohne speziellen Boot-Parametern (denn in der modul-Liste fehlt das "radeon" Modul, wurde also offenbar nicht geladen, aber ob das nun mit oder ohne Boot-Parameter war muss ich wieder hellsehen). Wenn das Live-System richtig läuft und den Bildschirm die richtige Auflösung verpasst, dann musst Du auch da nachsehen welche Module geladen werden und wie die Grafikkarte genutzt wird und der Bildschirm erkannt wird. Grundsätzlich soll bei neueren Linux-Versionen gelten, dass das "modesetting" für verschiedenen Bildschirmauflösungen nur funktioniert, wenn "nomodeset" nicht gesetzt ist. Nimm Dir einen USB-Stick um zu protokollieren was wie auf dem Rechner funktioniert und welche Einstellungen Du genommen hast. Das geht dann nicht verloren und kann auch von einem Live-System genutzt werden (solange ein Rechner genug USB-Ports hat, fürs Live-USB-Boot-System und den Speicherstick). Ich hoffe mal Du hast Dir mittlerweile im Wiki(siehe Link oben auf der Seite) durchgelesen wie Du Änderungen temporär im Grub-Boot-Menü vornehmen kannst. Wenn die 18.04.1 Live-Version ohne extra Parameter bootet und der Bildschirm korrekt initialisiert wird, dann solltest Du da auch mal probieren was mit der Option "nomodeset" passiert (ob dann wieder nur der Bildschirm mit der kleineren Auflösung funktioniert). Und das protokollieren. Du kannst das natürlich auch jedesmal hier reinschreiben, aber dann musst Du auch jedesmal hier nachschauen, wenn Du in einer Woche mal nachsehen willst was Du mal wie eingestellt hattest. Es gibt Menschen mit einem photographischen Gedächtnis – ich gehöre jedenfalls nicht dazu.

Ich habe jetzt die Live-Version mit der Installierten verglichen und es ist die intel Grafikkarte, die in der installierten Version nicht angezeigt wird. Wie kann ich jetzt vorgehen, damit intel vorhanden und bevorzugt wird?

Wenn die Intel GPU nicht bei lspci erscheint, dann ist sie aus Sicht des Systems auch gar nicht vorhanden. Es werden die grundsätzlichen Geräteinformationen die über den PCI Standard zur Verfügung stehen aufgelistet, es ist dafür weder ein Treiber erforderlich, noch wird der Kernel für etwas was dort wider erwarten nicht erscheint ein Modul laden. Das kann ganz grundsätzlicher Ursachen haben, wir hatten zB bereits einen Fall in dem es ein Problem mit dem PCI Bussystem gab und die Karte deshalb nicht erkannt wurde, weil der Bereich des Busses nicht benutzbar war - hier hatte damals ein BIOS Update das Problem behoben. Die Umsetzung der hybriden Grafiklösung ist bei der Kiste deutlich komplizierter als bei den Wald- und Wiesen-Laptops, Apple hat nicht einfach nur einen Multiplexer als Bonus verbaut, sondern etwas deutlich umfangreicheres mit diversen Sonderfunktionen gebastelt. In den neueren Retina Modellen ist dies ein eigener kleiner Mikrocontroller der gleich mehrere Multiplexer verwaltet, bei den älteren Geräten wie diesem hier hat man sogar gleich ein FPGA als Gesamtlösung verbaut (welches den Kommentaren des dafür zuständigen Kernel Moduls aber wohl weniger problematisch als der Mikrocontroller ist). Es gibt wohl eine EFI Variable, mit der man festlegen kann mit welcher Konfiguration dieser "gmux" das System bootet - vielleicht ist die Intel GPU hier schlicht deaktiviert worden. Die Art und Weise wie dies im Kernel Modul Dokumentiert ist lässt mich aber etwas daran zweifeln, ob es dafür direkt im EFI eine Einstellung gibt - vielleicht sollte dies auch nur von Mac OS aus geändert werden, das würde die Sache unter Linux recht kompliziert machen...

das ist das Problem - er rückt nicht mit den Daten, Einstellung von dem Rechner raus. Keine Ahnung (ausgeschrieben das kA.) ob er das nicht kann oder nicht will. Er kann auch scheinbar nicht vergleichen wie die Software der Live-Version aussieht im Vergleich zur installierten Version, die seine Erwartungen nicht erfüllt. An dem Punkt kann ich auch nicht helfen, da ich das Gerät nun mal nicht zur Verfügung habe und meine übermenschlichen Fähigkeiten nicht ausreichend sind (sofern überhaupt vorhanden). Ist es wirklich zu viel verlangt, wenn ich denke, dass der Vergleich zwischen einer "passend laufenden Linux-Version" und der "nicht passenden, hier installierten, Linux-Version" vorgenommen wird und bei beiden die geladenen Module und anderen Hardware-Informationen (z.B. von lspci, was ich gar nicht mehr wage einzufordern – xorg.logs .. sind bestimmt utopisch) verglichen werden und dann hier die Unterschied angegeben werden, wenn diese Unterschiede nicht schon von alleine den Hinweis geben, was geändert werden müsste? tl;dr? (ja, ja ... Endlossätze..)

xorg logs...das ist utopisch. Aber vielleicht könnt ihr mir sagen, wie ich die auslesen kann. Danke für eure Mühe. Ich boote, nachdem ich Radeon auf Blacklist gesetzt habe jetzt auch ohne nomodeset. Display bleibt trotzdem unerkannt.

Der Log ist der richtige, aber bei dem Problem wirst du tiefer gehen müssen - da wird wohl nur der Kernel Log weiterhelfen. Ein Blick auf die gepinnten Themen hätte deine Sucherei nebenbei reichlich abkürzen können - wie ihn jeder wohlerzogene Forennutzer vor dem Erstellen eines neuen Themas praktiziert. Der Kernel Log wird nebenbei nicht bei jedem Start neu angelegt, sondern immer an den alten angehängt bis die Datei eine gewisse Größe erreicht - die Datei wird dementsprechend ziemlich groß. Du kannst anhand der Timestamps am Zeilenanfang sehen, wo ein Log aufhört und der nächste anfängt.

das war jetzt also der xorg.log von der Ubuntu-18.04 Version (nach der Kernel-Version geraten), die nicht mit einem schwarzen Bildschirm hochläuft? Ich kapiere es nicht, da Du doch gesagt hast das ginge nur mit der Option "nomodeset". Laut dem log wird die aber nicht genutzt, allerdings die Optionen "quiet splash" und dass der Server auf der 1. Konsole laufen soll (warum nicht wie üblich auf der 7.? Ist das Mac-spezifisch?). Kannst Du denn beim Boot das Grub-Boot-Auswahlmenü sehen? Falls nicht, dann versuche hinzubekommen, dass Du das immer angezeigt bekommst. Der erste Versuch wäre die Menüzeile darin zu editieren und statt "quiet splash" ein "noquiet nosplash" hinzuschreiben (also "no" jeweil davor. Damit sollte sichtbar sein wie sich die Grafikauflösung des Bildschirms ändert (wenn sie sich ändert) und auch ob bei einem "schwarzen Bildschirm", d.h. die Grafik wird nicht aktiviert, noch vorher Meldungszeilen sichtbar sind. Laut dem xorg.log ist weder der radeon- noch der intel-Treiber für die Grafik genommen worden (sondern nur vesa und deshalb wohl die geringere Auflösung). Zum Grub-Menü, Editieren etc. gibt es die notwendige Information im Wiki: GRUB 2 Was ist denn statt 1152x864, die optimale Bildschirmauflösung? Wieso steht da der Verweis auf "wayland" im log?
