Tatsächlich benutze ich Darktable, bin da allerdings bisher recht geduldig
Irgendwann nützt dir Geduld nichts mehr, wenn du bei der Bearbeitung (nicht beim Rendern) nur mehr die Maus mit Gefühl ziehen kannst, sodass sie dort landet wo sie soll. Ich denke 24MP APS-C RAW sind mit einem alten PC gerade noch akzeptable, aber bei 36MP (Vollbild, APS) macht es keinen Spaß mehr und ist nur mehr eine Notlösung.
Ich habe gerade alten und neuen PC verglichen. Interessant ist, dass es mit OpenCL geringfügig langsamer ist.

Beim alten PC gibt es offensichtlich Probleme mit OpenCL und es ist langsamer
PC neu, CPU + OpenCL, aber ohne Nvidia-Treiber, obwohl diesen bei der Installation ausgewählt. Ich bin am neuen PC via ssh und merke da einiges nicht.

Schade, ich hoffte dir Anhaltspunkte geben zu können wie sehr eine Grafikkarte für Darktable wichtig ist.
Bei Handbrake kann man ja geduldig sein, bei mir haben UHD-Videos 2 Tage gedauert, bei der Videobearbeitung und nicht beim Rendern sieht das aber anders aus. Wenn du mehrere Kameras verwendest, dann kann es eng bis unbrauchbar werden, wenn der PC zu langsam ist. Bei manchen "kleinen" Konzerten, habe ich 3 Kameras (rechts, links, Mitte) auf Stativen und lasse permanent laufen, bei 1 Kamera zoome ich dann und laufe nach einiger Zeit zur n#chsten. Ton kommt auf einen Digitalrecorder vom Mischpult. Das war bisher mit kdenlive und HD-Aufnahmen (nicht UHD) nicht ordentlich zu schneiden.
