Wie die (auch zetliche) Abfolge ist, hatte ich in meinem Eröffnungsposting genannt. Hier noch einmal (diesmal ohne BIOS-Boot - also ab Grub):
schwarzer Bildschirm und leicht farbiger (eine Art dunkles, transaprentes grau) = 10s
Bootsplash/Plymouth = 30s
schwarzer Bildschirm (nach kurzer Login-Meldung) = 26s (vor Deinstallation von snapd = 30s)
Ein grafisches Login gibt es nicht: Der Bootsplash verschwindet, und auf dem dann schwarzen Monitor erscheint kurz ein (textbasiertes) Login-Prompt (1-3s). Danach bis zum Erscheinen des Desktops schwarzer Bildschirm (also keine Beteiligung von Plymouth mehr)
Da stellen sich mir folgende Fragen:
Es geht nicht um's Umkonfigurieren, sondern darum, dass IMO ein System in etwa so eingerichtet sein sollte, wie das Original, damit nicht "Äpfel mit Birnen" verglichen werden. Ich weiß ja im Einzelnen nicht, welches de- oder neuinstallierte Feature den Bootvorgang beeinflusst.
Nein, denn derzeit habe ich nicht mal mehr Festplatten über, die ich dafür verwenden könnte. Aber der Vergleich mit einem Live-System (Ubuntu Mate 18.04) zeigt einen interessanten Unterschied: Der Bootvorgang ab Grub dauerte insgesamt 50 Sekunden - manueller Aufruf des Sprachauswahl-Menüs und Start von "Ubuntu ausprobieren" eingerechnet (ging zwar schnell, aber immerhin). Hierbei wird auch klar, was sowohl objektiv, als auch subjektiv den Eindruck hinterlässt, dass der Vorgang ungewöhnlich lange dauert: Beim Live-System ist die Zeit zwischen Verschwinden des Bootsplash und Erscheinen des Desktops sehr kurz. Beim installierten System dauert es immerhin eine halbe Minute, in der ein schwarzer Bildschirm zu sehen ist und sonst nichts passiert.
Das hat er so nicht mehrmals vorgeschlagen: Während ich die Frage stellte, wie zu bewerkstelligen ist, dass sich Plymouth länger zeigt, wies er mich unvermittelt und zusammenhanglos auf auf eine Stelle hin, wo eine Deaktivierung erklärt wird. Dass er die Ansicht von Bootmeldungen im Sinn hatte, trat erst in einem späteren Posting zutage (und auch nur als Randbemerkung). Auf diese Art und Weise kommen immer wieder mal Kommentare von ihm - und damit kann ich nichts anfangen. Selbst wenn ich davon absehe: Was hätte ich von flüchtigen Bootmeldungen gehabt: Per se sagen sie mir nichts, und in der kurzen Zeit lassen sie sich auch nicht notieren.
Man kann natürlich auch das Journal ab Start komplett durchforsten. Hast du das getan? Auch da sieht man dann "Stillstände" und Fehlermeldungen.
In der Textdatei habe ich mich bis zum jüngsten Systemstart "vorgehangelt", kann aber leider die Meldungen nicht interpretieren (ob also irgendetwas falsch läuft oder nicht). Jedenfalls ist das nachfolgende Protokoll an zwei Stellen durch "Leerzeile - XxX-Zeile - Leerzeile" optisch hervorgehoben. Die erste Stelle markiert ungefähr das Ende der ersten 10 Sekunden, in denen der Bildschirm schwarz (und transparent grau) bleibt, bevor sich Plymouth zeigt und die zweite den Moment, wo das Login-Prompt erscheint und der Monitor bis zum Erscheinen des Desktops wieder schwarz bleibt. Wenn es tatsächlich ein Problem geben sollte, müsste es IMO in diesem dritten und letzten Block ausgewiesen werden, Aber was kann es sein? Oder gibt es gar keines?

Außerdem habe ich mir die Datei /var/log/boot.log angesehen. Bei der ist eine Identifizierung des letzten Systemstarts schwieriger, aber es müsste mir gelungen sein. Du möchtest die Ursache finden. Ohne etwas Aufwand auch deinerseits wird das nichts.
Das ist mir klar - allerdings nicht, warum (wenn ich einen Vorschlag nicht gleich umsetzen will) reflexhaft darauf geschlossen wird, dass ich mir keine Mühe geben und/oder keinen Aufwand betreiben will. Ich habe nur etwas gegen Aktionismus - also blindes Befolgen irgendwelcher Vorschläge, deren Sinn sich mir nicht erschließt (damit meine ich ausdrücklich nicht Dich).
Falls die Bootzeit eines "nackigen" Ubuntu / Xubuntu ähnlich sein sollte, wird sich wohl nichts groß optimieren lassen. Das wäre dann auch eine Erkenntnis.
Wohl war.. Wie gesagt: Installation eines anderen Ubuntu scheidet aus den beiden genannten Gründen derzeit aus. Aber vielleicht liefert das deutlich "bessere" Verhalten des Ubuntu-Mate Live-Systems (s.o.) in Verbindung mit den geposteten Datei-Auszügen irgendeinen Hinweis?
