Mein alter Imac hat sich über ein aktuelles Os gefreut. Nur das Problem, dass nach dem Aufwachen aus dem Bereitschaftsmodus der Bildschirm milchig weiß ist. Wie übersteuert oder zu starke Hintergrundbeleuchtung oder ähnliches. Erst nach einem Neustart behebt sich das Problem. Irgend wo in einem Forum etwas von Parameter - "vendor" sei ein zu tragen , aber ich weiß weder wo noch ob dieser Eintrag für meine Graka und 24.04 gilt. Bitte um Hilfe. Der imac hat eine Radeon eingebaut die der Kernel auch lädt. die Basis Installation ist Xubuntu hatte schon bei 20.04 den selben Effekt. Nun habe ich einen upgrade durchgeführt und ebenso gnome als neuen Desktop hinzugefügt und als Standard geneommen. Diese Änderungen aber bitte nicht als Gründe anführen . beide Installationen liefen reibungslos und fehlerfrei. Das Bereitschaftsproblem und wakeup sehe ich im kernel oder in grub. Kann man linux auch ohne grub nutzen? wäre maö ein versuch. Ich nutze kein Dualboot , daher brauche ich eigentlich auch keine bootmanager.

Da Du vermutlich Deinen Imac auch schon mit MacOS betrieben haben dürftest: Gab es eine Situation, in der der Bildschirm beim Starten aus der Bereitschaft auch so milchig weiß übersteuert wurde? Wenn Du schon irgendwas zwischen Grup und Kernel erwähnst, könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass dieser Effekt durch das systemeigene UEFI (?) oder so gesteuert wird und eine bestimmte Aussage hat. Hast Du irgendwelche Grub-Ausgaben oder frühe Kernel-Logs, die damit einhergehen? Leider hab ich keinen Imac (dafür eine andere lustige Kiste), d.h. ich habe sowas noch nie gesehen.

"die logś" ? kann ich ansehen....wußte gar nicht wozu ich alles im Stande bin..."inkommpatibel" es ist ab und an schon peinlich... einerseits kommen die linuxer voll stolz rüber ...aber wehe es funktioniert was nicht ... dann wird der Arsch zusammen geklemmt... Linux wirbt damit ... alte imacs wieder zum Leben zu erwecken.. nein ich bin Nutzer eines Computers und habe keine Ahnung woran das liegt. Und ich meine mit einer anderen distrtibutioin wäre das problem nicht aufgetreten . hab schon einige durch.

Intel Core2 Duo T7700

Der stammt aus dem Jahr 2007. Die Distribution "Ubuntu" richtet sich an Nutzer moderner und potenter Hardware. Dafür ist Ubuntu "berüchtigt"! ☹

ich meine mit einer anderen Distrtibutionen wäre das problem nicht aufgetreten .

Prima, dann ist das ja alles kein Thema! 👍

P.S. Ich wundere mich, daß "Ubuntu" überhaupt rund läuft auf diesem Gerät. (Snap, Wayland, radeon "Legacy" Treiber etc.)

So, damit niemand auf dumme Ideen kommt, ich sah nämlich gerade ein aus dem Wiki verlinktes Nixiepixel Video, bei dem mit einem GUI-Editor mit root Rechten hantiert wurde. 😳 Ganz schlechte Idee, Nixiepixel!

Also zum editieren bitte im Terminal einen Editor verwenden, der keine grafische Umgebung braucht, und somit dann auch nicht die Rechte im User Verzeichnis verbogen werden:

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

Nano ist einfach zu bedienen, Artikel im Wiki:

Nach dem editieren und speichern mit root Rechten (sudo) im Terminal:

sudo update-grub && sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

Erst wenn das erfolgreich durchgelaufen ist, rebooten.

so - hab scheinbar zu viel rumprobiert, nun bleibt er schwarz - startet nicht mehr. Wie kann ich den bootloader reparieren? Was kann ich tun damit linux wieder startet?

Du kannst deine Bootoptionen in der Root Shell der Wiederherstellungskonsole permanent oder einmalig ändern. Wenn man experimentiert, ist einmalig immer eine gute Idee! 💡

Warum nimmst du nicht einfach eine funktionierende Distribution? Ubuntu -in allen Varianten- ist für dein Gerät ungeeignet wegen des hohen Alters.

Debian mit Xfce soll doch schlank sein.

so danke - Rechner bootet wieder. nur - in der etc/default/grub steht etwas anderes drin als ich im bootmenü ändern kann. Demnach gibt es mehrere grub- Dateien? im bootmenü kann ich nur temporär ändern? wo finde ich die korrekte datei - damit ich den falschen parameter permanent entfernen kann?
