Servus, meinem R61 lief 12.04 LTS, leider wollte ich nun auf 14.04 und dann auf 16.04 upgraden. Unter 14.04 hatte ich keinen Networkmanager mehr, hat nicht funktioniert. Dann habe ich 16.04 neu installiert, meine /home Partition nicht angerührt.

nun komme ich in GRUB zur Auswahl (habe auch noch XP drauf), und wenn ich Ubuntu auswähle, bekomme ich eine Kernel panic: no init Fond. Das Caps-Lock Symbol blinkt munter.

Ehrlich gesagt, möchte ich nicht alles über den Jordan hauen, XP brauche ich leider wegen eines einzigen Programms (Adobe lässt grüßen, ist ein PS und arbeite nur offline).

Ich bin echt am Verzweifeln. Welche Version vom Mainline soll ich versuchen zu laden? Was mich so ärgert ist, daß 16.04 vom USB Stick tadellos funktioniert... Oder soll ich einfach über meinen Schatten springen und meine komplette Partitionierung endlich aufgeben? Hoffe, daß das dann überhaupt was bringt. Daß es an der alten Hardware liegt, kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, da vom Stick aus alles passt.

Dein Titel und deine genannte Fehlermeldung stimmen nicht überein.

Ein Upgrade von 12.04 über 14.04 auf 16.04 ist übrigens keine gute Idee - schon alleine wegen des Wechsels des Init-Systems.

So müsstest du in der Bootauswahl jetzt sowohl Einträge haben, die mit Upstart starten als auch welche ohne die Erwähnung von Upstart, die verwenden dann Systemd.

Welches davon hast du denn gestartet? Auch verschiedene Kernelversionen ausprobiert?

Korrekt, ich habe auch upstart und recovery probiert. Beim Standard blinkt nur das Capslock-A, gleiches bei upstart und recovery, jedoch wird mir da am Bildschirm dann die Fehlermeldung mit Kernel Panic angezeigt. Mist, ich habe mich mit 14 und 16 nicht befasst, da ich mit 12 echt super zufrieden war. Mea culpa.

Deine Fehlermeldung hat nicht das geringste mit dem von dir entführten Thema zu tun, eine Kernel-Panic hast du auch nicht.

Boote ein live-Session und zeige

und führe GRUB-Umgebung analysieren (Abschnitt „Ab-Ubuntu-12-04“) aus und zeige die RESULTS.txt.

Wieso ist Grub in eine Partition und noch dazu auf einer mit ntfs installiert und nicht im MBR wo es hingehört?

Baue ein chroot/Live-CD auf.

Führe darin

sudo grub-install /dev/sda

aus, gefolgt von einem

sudo update-grub

und

sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

aus.

Danach starte Ubuntu von der Festplattte.

P.S. falls der Rechner auch UEFI kann, achte drauf das Du im Bios-Mode startetest, da Du eine Bios-installation hast.

Von einer Live-Session und ohne eingebundene Partitionen von Deiner internen Platte.

chroot war fehlerfrei. Lediglich bei der Zeile update-initramfs -u -k habe ich das -all ohne Bindestrich verwendet.

Hardware Problem waere ein unguter Zufall, weil es genau beim Upgrade / Neuinstallation passiert ist.

Du kannst natürlich nochmal eine Neuinstallation starten und Grub dann gleich in den MBR also nach /dev/sda schreiben lassen. Zeige aber vorher noch

Ich lasse mal den status und memtest durchlaufen, evtl. morgen Fr[h dann eine neue Installation. Ich bilde mir aber stark ein, da- ich GRUB nach /dev/sda schreiben liess, und zwar bei der Auswahl beim Installieren <andere Variante>. Danke nochmals!!
