Naja, als Erstes würde ich das BS aktualisieren(auf 20.04), kein Update, Neuinstallation, /home kann behalten werden(mglw. vorher sichern)
Da stimme ich dir absolut zu! Da das Notebook mein Arbeitsgerät ist (bin selbstständig), kommt das für mich aktuell leider nicht in Frage. Einfach zu Zeitaufwendig zwischen dem Tages geschäft ☹
Das schiebe ich schon eine Weile vor mir her ... ansonsten wäre das absolut sinnvoll.

Den Ordner "~/.asoundrc" gibt es bei mir nicht. Habe adhoc auch nichts mit alsa usw. bei mir im Home-Ordner gefunden.
Alsa/Pulse habe ich bereits komplett gelöscht, neuinstalliert und /etc/pulseaudio komplett gelöscht/neu anlegen lassen und sogar ein "inoffizielles" Upgrade auf eine aktuellere Pulse Version durchgeführt. Ich habe sogar mit dpkg --exctract alle alsa Pakete noch mal "hart" manuell über das System kopiert! Aus Erfahrung weiß ich, dass es da manchmal irgendwie klemmt.
Pulseaudio aus Ubuntu-Bionic läuft was die Ton Ausgabe angeht einwandfrei. Aufnahme egal mit welchem Headset / internes Mic immer nur komische Geräusche.
Ist evtl. die Klinken-Buchse defekt?! Wobei das würde das selbe Brummen beim internen Notebook Mic auch nicht erklären.
Ich habe mit einem alten USB-Audio Adapter getestet. Dort ist kein Brummen! Leider unterstützt die Klinken-Buchse aber keine langen 3,5" Klinke (Handy-Headset)... aber zumindest scheint es kein grundsätzliches Software-Problem zu sein...
Entweder da hakt irgendwas mit dem Realtek ACL?! Oder da ist wirklich irgendwas defekt Hardware-Seitig ....
