hab mal ne Frage, ob es euch anderen auch so geht.

Vorher hatte ich 24.04 mit GNOME + mein "Referenz-Spiel" (Steam gestartet mit dedizierter Grafikkarte)

Bei xorg + nvidia auf Performance-Mode: ca. 250-300 FPS Bei wayland + nvidia auf Performance-Mode: ca. 75-100 FPS (fühlten sich aber mehr nach 25 FPS an)

Ich habe auf 24.10 gewechselt. Bei xorg + nvidia auf Performance-Mode: ca. 90-110 FPS Bei wayland + nvidia auf Performance-Mode: ca. 100-120 FPS

Auch habe ich auf meinem 4K-Monitor bewegen sich die Fenster unter 24.04 + xorg am flüssigsten (Wo auch das Spiel am besten lief)

Hab ihr ähnliche Erfahrungen? Gibt es vielleicht noch was, was man zu Verbesserung der Lage machen kann? Oder am besten zurück zu 24.04?

Auf meiner Kubuntu 24.10 Oracular Oriole Wolpertinger Edition mit Nvidia Grafikkarte kann ich das nicht nachvollziehen. Keine Verschlechterung der Grafikleistung. 😎 👍

Teste mal nach alter Sitte verschiedene Treiberversionen.

sudo apt-get purge \*nvidia\* ; sudo apt-get install nvidia-driver-XXX nvidia-settings 

Purge ist nach einem Release Upgrade vermutlich eh sinnvoll. Beim Terminal an nvidia-prime denken, war jedenfalls früher so ... 😎

4k, nvidia, Wayland - da könnte es natürlich auch am Desktop liegen. KDE/Gnome sind da vermutlich unterschiedlich!

Vielen Dank für eure Rückmeldungen. Ich habe eine Menge ausprobiert und getestet. Auch mit apt purge alles zu reseten.

Aber nichts hat so wirklich was geholfen. Mittlerweile ist auch noch etwas sehr unangenehmes hinzugekommen. Vielleicht war es bereits vorher da... 😉

Hier meine Erkenntnisse: Die Oberfläche (besonders bei 4K) ist nur wirklich ruckelfrei, wenn man den Energie-Modus auf "Leistung" stellt. Wobei es immer etwas smoothiger unter xorg als unter wayland läuft. ABER ich hatte es nun schon mehrmals dass bei xorg mein ganzer Rechner eingefroren ist. Immer zuerst der Laptopbildschirm. (Manchmal konnte ich die Situation retten, indem ich bei den Anzeige-Einstellungen den Laptop-Bildschirm abgeschaltet habe.) Dann passiert es aber auch, dass der 4K-Monitor einfriert und nur die Maus sich bewegt. Keine Tastatur... es hilft nur lange den Ein-Aus-Schalter zu drücken und das OS ganz abzuwürgen. ☹

Derzeit: verwende ich NVidia-Treiber 535 + xorg zum Spielen. Im CounterStrike-Source Grafikauslastungstest hatte ich früher unter 24.04 + xorg : knapp unter 300 FPS* (mehr scheint CS nicht herzugeben) Jetzt komme ich maximal auf 230FPS. Unter wayland sehr konstant auf 120FPS.

Sehr schade...

*) für eine 3070RTX sollte das auch kein Problem sein.

Für so eine Nvidia GPU würde ich eher den aktuellen nvidia-driver-565 aus dem Nvidia eignen CUDA-Repository nutzen. Tut es jedenfalls auch mit meiner schon etwas angestaubten GTX 970 einwandfrei, und nach etwas patchen vom nvidia-dkms-565 Paket auch mit dem neuen 6.12er Linux Kernel.
