Hallo liebe ubuntuusers, habe mein seid 2012 Fehlerfrei laufendes System (14.04.5 LTS) nach einen Update (von nvidia.com gezogener .run Treiber) vor drei Tagen beschädigt bzw etwas Grundlegendes stimmt nicht mehr. Habe ein Dell inspiron 5720 mit einer nvidia GT 630M (Optimus System). Die GK lief vor dem update mit dem aus den PPA eingerichteten nvidia340er Treiber Fehlerfrei ohne Probleme. Das nvidia X Server settings ging auch. Nun zum Problem, nach der Installation über den nvidia installer und dem ersten reboot kam ein blackscreen mit tty1 Terminal. Konnte mich nach weiterer suche wieder in die Grafische Oberfläche retten. Dann habe ich die Treiber mit purge* komplett deinstalliert und über PPA den nvidia390 installiert. Der wird aber nicht erkannt. Laut Synaptic ist der Treiber installiert. Momenten ist der nouveau aktiviert, zumindest steht es so bei Anwendungen & Aktualisierungen unter Zusätzliche Treiber. Zur Auswahl steht unten drunter der nvidia340 binary driver, aber der von mir installierte nvidia390 wird leider da nicht angezeigt. Wenn ich auf den nvidia340 wechsle passiert auch nix. Was soll ich tun, bin mit meinen abc am ende, habe gefühlt mehr als 100 Forenbeiträge gelesen aber ich komm nicht weiter?? die Ausgabe zum controller

Da du per .run installier hast, den uninstaller von nVidia nutzen.
Dann den aus dem PPA deinstallieren. Dann wieder installieren.

https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Grafikkarten/Nvidia/nvidia/ 384 wäre richtig; https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Hybrid-Grafikkarten/PRIME/ ab 16.04 zu empfehlen (?) Wie wäre eine Neuninstallation mit 18.04 und einem soliden 2D Desktop wie Mate oder Xubuntu? Optimusunterstützung ist doch deutlich besser geworden. Die meisten Experten würden PPA und manuelle Installation von Nvidia wohl ablehnen in dieser Konstellation.

Ok, danke für die schnelle Hilfe. Ich war auf ask ubuntu und habe einige Anleitungen gefunden wie man den .run Treiber deinstalliert. Habe folgendes im Terminal ausgeführt
ole@ole:~$ cd Downloads
ole@ole:~/Downloads$ NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run --uninstall
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run: Befehl nicht gefunden.
ole@ole:~/Downloads$ sudo NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run --uninstall
[sudo] password for ole:
sudo: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run: command not found
habe dann die .run Datei ins Homeverzeichnis kopiert und
ole@ole:~/Downloads$ cd
ole@ole:~$ sudo ~/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run --uninstall
sudo: /home/ole/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.48.run: command not found
Was soll ich nun machen? Die nvidia purge* befehle hab ich ja schon gestern ausgeführt bevor ich dann den nvidia390er installiert hab. Habe auch folgendes gefunden,

Diese Datei muss mit bash gestartet werden, denn das ist ein Skript und KEINE Applikation. Sieht dann so aus:

Ja 14.04 ist zu alt für denn Treiber und wurde deshalb nicht installiert. Noch mal Glück gehabt. Entweder upgrade auf 18.04 und dort denn von Ubuntu empfohlen und somit getesteten Treiber für diese Grafikkarte und Version nehmen oder das selbe für 14.04 nehmen. Andere als die von Ubuntu angebotenen sind nicht zu empfehlen und machen Ärger. Außer bei neueren Grafikkarten die 630M würde ich nicht das zu zählen. Da du eine Intel CPU hast mit Meltdown Mist. Würde ich sowieso 18.04 installieren. Denn 18.04 ist die erste Version die von Anfang dieser Bug behoben wurde und somit fast ein muss.

Also hab ich das richtig verstanden, ich hab den falschen Treiber (nvidia390) installiert und der soll jetzt mit sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia* deinstalliert werden und dann den neuen Treiber(nvidia384) wieder installieren.

Ok, jetzt habe ich den nvidia390 deinstalliert und den nvidia384 installiert, Neustart...nix hat sich geändert, wird nicht in Anw&Aktualisierungen unter Zusätzliche Treiber aufgeführt. Dann habe ich denn nvidia384 wieder deinstalliert und den nvidia340 installiert, jetzt hat sich was getan, und zwar hat sich die Auswahl in Zusätzliche Treiber von x.org-X-Server Nouveau auf nvidia340 umgestellt. Aber nach dem Neustart leider nicht geladen, immer noch Intel Ivybridge Mobile. Weiss jetzt auch nicht mehr weiter. Eine Möglichkeit die mir noch eingefallen ist wäre, den NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-384.130.run (siehe Bild) zu installieren und zwar anhand der Infos aus dem folgenden Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ-r3gS38RU was meint Ihr, soll ich es versuchen??

Hallo, Du hast Secure-Boot deines UEFI/BIOS aktiviert. Alle nicht signierten Treibermodule können so nicht geladen werden. Das betrifft hier das Modul für die Broadcom-WLAN Karte (Broadcom-STA/Modul wl) und den nVidia-Treiber gleichermaßen. Kannst Du einfach überprüfen, sofern Du einen der nVidia-Treiber wieder aktiviert hast:

Grundsätzlich kannst Du 14.04 noch verwenden, ich würde dir spätestens nach Erscheinen des ersten Point-Release von 18.04.1 aber zu einer Neuinstallation einer Buntu-Variante deiner Wahl raten.

Auf die Erklärung wie du von den zur Verfügung gestellten Angaben darauf gekommen bist bin ich jetzt aber mal wirklich gespannt... Insbesondere die Sache mit dem Broadcom Chip musst du mir wirklich erklären.

Hallo, @elektronenblitz63: habe heute Mittag schon den selben Gedanken und habe im Bios nachgeschaut ob sich mein Secure-Boot aus irgend einen Grund aktiviert hat. NEIN es ist definitiv Disabled und das schon seid meiner ersten Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation. Die Wlan karte ging bis vor dem nvidia .run update vor vier Tagen tadellos. Seid dem geht auch meine vitualbox nicht mehr(sie lässt sich zwar starten aber beim Start eines Operating Systems egal ob Windows oder Linux kommt eine Fehlermeldung). zu
