Schade, auch kein Hinweis. Wie gesagt, ich vermute, dass die Abhängigkeiten aufgrund von Docker zerschossen sind. Vielleicht startet smbd, wenn wir die Service Unit anpassen: | sudo systemctl edit smbd.service

Hallo Chris, wenn ich den Befehlt zum editieren der smbd.service aufrufe, ist dort noch nichts eingetragen. Die "Datei" ist leer.
Soll das so sein? oder liegt die in einem bestimmten Ordner, in den ich erst wechseln muss?

Nach meinem Kenntnisstand brauchst an dieser Stelle nur die beiden Zeilen eintragen, die ich oben erwähnt habe. Damit sollte die Version des Paketbetreuers überschrieben werden. Alternativ kannst du natürlich auch die Service Unit des Paketbetreuers an sich editieren.

Hi, ich habe die Datei also mit diese beiden Zeilen ergänzt.
Beim speichern hat er mich gefragt, ob ein override für die Datei smbd.service.d gemacht werden osll.
Das habe ich bestätigt. Wenn ich den Service nun starten(relaod geht nicht, weil der Dienst nicht läuft) möchte, kommt wieder die Fehlermeldung, die ich schon sah, aber mit etwas anderem inhalt: 1

Sorry, da hat noch die Eingrenzung auf die Unit gefehlt:

Frage: Gibt es eine (für mich als Anfänger einfache) Alternative zu Samba um Dateien für Gäste von Windows Systemen, also ohne Logindaten zu verwenden, als Share freizugeben?
Es muss ja nicht zwingend Samba sein, ich hatte es nur für die beste Alternative gahlten, weil es klang, als ist das etwas, was nativ läuft...

Ja, Alternativen wie ftp gibt es durchaus. Allerdings kann es ja durchaus sein, daß wir hier auf das gleiche Problem stoßen. Mal eine andere Frage: Wie wird denn das Netzwerk bei dir konfiguriert? Per Netzwerkmanager oder über die Interfaces? Netplan wird es wohl eher nicht sein. Kannst du mal deine Einträge in der Interfaces checken?

Ich bin nicht sicher, ob meine Windows Software so transparent ist, und es egal ist, ob die Freigabe \\IP\Share per SMB oder FTP erreicht wird.
Das käme auf einen Test an. Der Befehl "cat /etc/network/interfaces" bewirkt gar nichts, es erscheint einfach eine neue Bash-Zeile.

Ok, dann können wir die interfaces als Problemquelle auch ausschließen. Wenn du noch Zeit und Muße hast, können wir das Problem auch gerne weiter untersuchen. Mir fällt allerdings nicht mehr wirklich viel ein. 😕 Ich fasse zusammen: die Paketverwaltung ist ok die smb.conf ist nicht verändert die Service Unit wurde leicht modizifiert, ändert trotzdem nichts am Ergebnis
Lass uns noch mal folgendes probieren:

Ich sehe bspw. im Ordner /etc/systemd/system den Ordner "smbd.service.d" - ich würde ja schätzen, dass nicht alle Altlasten diesbezüglich gesäubert worden sind? Mir ist aufgefalen, dass hier ORdner nach dem System "network-online.target.wants" exestieren.
Darin gibt es zwei Einträge: "NetworkManager-wait-online.service" und "systemd-networkd-wait-online.service". Wenn Der Samba Dienst ordentlich installiert ist, sollte es an dieser Stelle etwas wie "smbd.service.wants" mit einem Eintrag "network-online.target" geben?

Die smbd Datei unter /etc/systemd/system kannst du löschen oder vorerst ignorieren. Das stört nicht. Änderungen an den jeweiligen systemd Services sollten automatisch umgesetzt werden, da das Samba Paket aus der offiziellen Paketquelle ist (siehe Ausgabe von apt cache policy). D. h. jetzt Samba neu installieren.

Ich habe mal nach dem Fehler mit der "Unit failed" gesucht. Der Schreiber hatte von hier einen Tipp, allerdings konnt er den samba nicht neuinstallieren.
https://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/samba-re-installation-funktioniert-nicht/ Nachdem er diesen Befehl "apt-get purge samba samba-common" ausführte, klappte seine Installation. Kann es sein, dass hier irgendetwas ähnlich gelagertes noch zwischen spielt?
