Hallo Forum, hoffe das ist der richtige Ort um diese Frage zu stellen Habe, um den Scanner in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS anzusprechen, folgende Anleitung versucht abzuarbeiten: https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Scanner/Brother/ folgendes ist gemacht: Dateien von Brother heruntergeladen und installiert: brscan2-0.2.5-1.amd64.deb
brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.2-0.all.deb folgende Dateien fanden sich danach: /etc/udev/rules.d/60-brother-libsane-type1.rules # existiert
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf # existiert und enthält den Eintrag "brother2" habe selbst 2 Dateien angelegt
/etc/sane.d/brother
/etc/sane.d/brother2 und dort usb 041b 0180
entsprechen den lsusb und sane-find-scanner eingetragen sane-find-scanner zeigt natürlich den scanner, aber "scanimage -L" bringt auch als root keine Ergebnisse. Mit diesem Rechner kann ich mit einem anderen Scanner bereits arbeiten, d.h. sane funktioniert grundsätzlich. Fragen:
Wie kann ich herausfinden, ob die von Brother gelieferte udev-Regel überhaupt zum greifen kommt?
Die mitgelieferte udev-Regeldatei enthält z. B. keine Stelle, in der idProduct eingetragen werden kann.... Wird - vorausgesetzt die Regel greift - irgendwo ein Gerät angelegt ála /dev/scanner? Bearbeitet von sebix: titel korrigiert

Ok, ich habe jetzt in die symlinks von /usr/lib64/sane/libsane-brother2.so* nach /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/sane/ gesetzt.
Damit findet | export SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 && scanimage -L
|
die libs und den Scanner. Scannen geht aber immer noch nicht.

Habe schon von blauen USB-Anschlüssen auf schwarze gewechselt –> kein Effekt. Finde im Bios keine explizite Möglichkeit USB3.0 abzuschalten. Heisst das XHCI-Handoff ? Hab es jedenfalls von Enabled auf Disabled gestellt, ebenfalls ohne Wirkung.

Scheint nicht an USB3 zu liegen, da ich es zusätzlich auf einem derart alten Rechner (Thinkpad X200, Ubuntu 18.10) ausprobiert habe, dass es kein USB3 haben kann.

Du Versuchst den völlig Falschen Treiber für dein Scanner zu Installieren! Du brauchst den brscan4 https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=mfc7240_us_as&os=128#SelectLanguageType-566_0_1 Entferne den brscan2 wieder und Installiere den brscan4 sowie https://download.brother.com/welcome/dlf006654/brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.2-0.all.deb um die erforderlichen udev Dateien zu erhalten. Ich stand unter dem Eindruck, dass brscan4 zu neu für den relativ alten MFC-7420 ist und der dort evtl. nicht mehr unterstützt wird. Unterstützt brscan4 auch ältere Modelle? Jedenfalls hat eine Suche nach dem IdProduct (bei mir 0x180) mit | grep -iHr 180 /opt/brother/scanner/*

(wo brscan4 ein paar Dateien - u.a. .ini hinwirft) keine Treffer gebracht.
Du brauchst den brscan4 https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadlist.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=mfc7240_us_as&os=128#SelectLanguageType-566_0_1 Entferne den brscan2 wieder und Installiere den brscan4 sowie https://download.brother.com/welcome/dlf006654/brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.2-0.all.deb um die erforderlichen udev Dateien zu erhalten. Ich bekomme "Schnappatmung" 😬 Wie bist du auf das Schmale Brett /etc/sane gekommen? Wollen wir es mal gemeinsam richtig machen?

Ok, Kellerkind, es gibt ein paar Probleme: a) /etc/sane habe ich so getippt, gemeint ist /etc/sane.d/ b) einige Ausgaben stammen leider von falschen Rechner, denn ich war in meiner Werkstatt auf dem Notebook und war per ssh im eigentlichen Rechner. Habe anscheinend einige Ausgaben vom lokalen Rechner, andere vom Zielrechner abgelesen - ich entschuldige mich - deswegen vollständig nochmal alles: Ausgabe von:

Führe mal aus sudo mv /etc/sane.d/dll.conf /etc/sane.d/dll.conf.bak

An dieser Stelle muss ich noch einen schwerwiegenden Fehler anführen, der mir unterlaufen ist: Mein Modell ist MFC-7420, und nicht MFC-7240 merke ich gerade. Leider ist somit der Topic-Titel auch falsch - tut mir leid. 74-20 und 72-40 hat sich irgendwie in meinem Kopf verdreht.. Sorry!!!!
