😀 Jaja... eines meiner Überbleibsel aus seligen Windowszeiten... der Drang alles rauszuwerfen was keine Miete zahlt. Unter Linux ist es schlimmer geworden. Warum? Ich gestehe, bei Ubuntu ist mir der Aufwand einfach zu groß. Du hast ja eine riesige Liste! 😀 Ich laß den ganzen Scheixx drauf und gut ist. Zumal man bei Ubuntu immer mal wieder in Konflikte mit irgendwelchen Meta-Paketen rennt. Ich schalte nur die automagischen Services/Dienste ab, die mich nerven wie z.B. Such-Index-Erstellung, Update-Helferlein, Hardware-Assistent, ... Für ein schlankes und wirklich selbstgebasteltes Linux nehme ich lieber Arch als Basis und baue das Bottom-Up auf.

Mmmh... da war ich noch nicht. Mit avahi habe ich mich noch nicht befasst. Was ist es, wozu brauche ich es? Edit: done. Und wieder um acht Pakete leichter. Die libs sind allerdings ziemlich ins System verzahnt.

mehr CPU-Zeit für anderes (steht nicht da) mehr Plattenplatz frei (dito) schnellere Startzeit weniger Angriffspunkte weniger Downloads für updates
vor allem: Mehr Übersicht, leichtere Fehlersuche.

Wer braucht das? Auf eine Arch-Maschine kommt nur, was gebraucht wird. Da kann ich locker auf irgendwelche "Manager" verzichten. 😀 btw. dank BSD-Init ist nano der Startup-Manager. 😈 Edit: Aber Canonical scheint Einsicht zu zeigen. Wenn ich mich recht entsinne, ein "apt-get purge evolution" hat bei Hardy noch den kompletten Desktop (Gnome) entfernt. 😉

Dir ist schon klar wie lange das dauert, bei der Paketliste? 😉 Mein erster Ansatzpunkt war eigentlich die Frage: was nutze ich, was nutze ich nicht?
Raus. Dann kam die Frage: was ist nun ebenfalls sinnlos geworden (lib, Abhängigkeiten). Dadurch und durch viel Probieren kam irgendwann die obige Liste zustande. Allein durch das entfernen von OpenOffice, unnötige Sprachpakete (wozu Thaisprachen auf der CD sind wird wohl nie Jemand erfahren) und Dinge wie Mono nebst dazugehöriger "Software" gewinnt man schon enorm. Wichtig ist nur, daß man auch die schlankeren Alternativen kennt. Ich nutze, nur als eines von vielen Beispielen, statt OOo Abiword und Gnumeric. Verbrät deutlich weniger Platz und reicht für meine Bedürfnisse völlig. Auch diese Liste lässt sich beliebig erweitern.

mache habe ich immer diese Prozesse in der Ausgabe, an denen ich erstmal wieder vorbeikucken muss, um die Infos zu finden, die mich interessieren. Es gab mal Zeiten, da liefen 30 Prozesse, die hat man bald gekannt, und wusste nach einiger Zeit auch, wozu sie gut sind. Heute laufen 50-60 Prozesse, und man fragt sich, ob man durchschauen wird, wer wozu gut ist, bevor sie von einem neuen Konzept abgelöst werden wie hal. Oder ifconfig. Bei Netzwerkproblemen hat man immer dieses Avahi aktiv, und es ist nicht wegzubekommen, weil es in den Tiefen von /etc irgendwo automatisch gestartet wird, wenn irgendwas passiert. Die Zeit verliert man eben teils mit solchen Diensten, nicht ohne sie. Das ist meine Feststellung, keine Meinung.

Schließlich habe ich hier ein komplettes Desktop-System, und da ist es schon bequem, wenn die gängigen Sachen einfach da sind. Wenn ich wirklich ein Minimal-System haben wollte, würde ich entweder auch eine andere Distri nehmen, oder mir ein "Blokkendoos" (="Baukasten")-System aufsetzen. (→ http://wiki.ubuntu-nl.org/community/UbuntuBlokkendoos ) So herum macht das viel mehr Sinn, weil ich dabei von vornherein weniger Platz brauche und mein System nicht sinnlos fragmentiere. (ja, das ist unter ext234 auch vorhanden, auch wenn es meist nicht stört) Anders sieht es bei unnötigen Diensten aus. Z.B. habe ich verschiedene "Vorschau"-Funktionen und Effekte abgeschaltet, weil ich dafür die Rechenleistung auf meinem 1 GHz-Athlon nicht opfern will. track

Genau so sehe ich das auch. Es ist wirklich ziemlich sinnfrei, eine Komplettdistri wie Ubuntu zu installieren und dann solche Mengen an Paketen nachträglich wieder zu entfernen. Allein die Mühe, herauszufinden, welches Paket wofür gebraucht oder nicht gebraucht wird, ist doch Wahnsinn. Das ist ja so, als würde man sich ein komplettes Bekleidungsgeschäft inklusive Lager kaufen und dann alles wieder herausschmeißen, weil man ja eigentlich nur ein paar Socken braucht. 😀 Ich habe zwar auch kein Standardsystem installiert, sondern ein Debian-Minimal. Ich möchte mir aber auch da auf keinen Fall die Mühe machen, bei jeden Paket nachzuschauen, ob ich es nun wirklich brauche oder nicht. Ich installiere bei neuen Paketen auch die Recommends mit. Denn was nützt mir eine Software, bei der die halben Funktionen nicht vorhanden sind, nur weil sie für den Betrieb dieser Software vielleicht nicht absolut zwingend erforderlich sind? Bei so einer Intention ist Ubuntu mit Sicherheit das falsche System. Wobei das, was da übrig bleibt ja sowieso kein Ubuntu mehr ist. Da würde ich dann auch eher Arch nehmen. Oder LFS, wenn denn ganz hart sein soll.

Wer braucht das? Auf eine Arch-Maschine kommt nur, was gebraucht wird. Da kann ich locker auf irgendwelche "Manager" verzichten. 😀
Glaub ich nicht. Archs Pakete sind vergleichsweise groß und enthalten viel, was du bestimmt nicht brauchst. (das Aufsplitten oder gar useflags würden auch gegen "keep it simple" verstoßen)
