Hallo,
http://mirror.adct.be/mx/iso/ANTIX/Final/antiX-17.4/
antiX-17.4.1_386-base.iso 2019-03-28 18:52 658M

Hi,
If anyone is still trying to run Linux on a Hercules EC-800 netbook in 2019, the best experience is the Debian based Antix base distro for 32 bit:
http://mirror.adct.be/mx/iso/ANTIX/Final/antiX-17.4/
antiX-17.4.1_386-base.iso 2019-03-28 18:52 658M
This is in fact the only distro that works, and I have tried many.
I have not yet resolved the screen resolution issue. Using xrandr to add a new resolution 800x480 brings up an error message. However, if you run arandr in Antix (control centre - session), you can change the resolution to 800x600, which makes the letters bigger, though the bottom screen is still missing. You can also choose 640x480, which does allow you to see the whole screen, but it makes you feel cross-eyed.
If anyone is able to add the 800x600 resolution in Antix base, I'd love to hear how.
