Hi. Vorgestern wollte ich - leider überstürzt - updaten und - nachdem zuerst zuwenig Platz auf der Festplatte war, schien es weitgehend gut zu laufen.
Ein Test zuvor mit einem Live-USB-Stick lief reibungslos.
Dann bootet das System nur in den Textmodus/Wiederherstellungskonsole.
Die Fehlermeldungen deuteten auf die NVidia-Chip als Problem hin. Also habe ich diese im BIOS deaktiviert, da das System, ein Lenovo Laptopp Thinkpad T530, auch noch eine integrierte Grafik i915 hat. Die 2x3 Bootoptionskombinationen (Integrierte Grafik/Diskrete Grafik/NVidia Optimus) x (automat. Erkennung enabled/disabled) haben nicht weitergeholfen.
Apt hat gesagt, es gäbe 62 zurückgehaltene Pakete.
Die Netzwerkkarte lief nicht, ließ sich aber mit sudo ifconfig enp0s25 192.168.32.3 up hochbringen. Ping war erst nicht möglich, aber ein route add default gw 192.168.32.1 bringt mich ins Netz.
Mit journalctl -xb -g net und networkctl und sudo systemctl (re)start network... versuchte ich dem Problem auf den Grund zu gehen. Es hieß dann dramatisch, dass das WWAN-Interface nicht aktiviert werden konnte, also habe ich das im BIOS ebenfalls deaktiviert.
Die Meldung zum WWAN ist jetzt weg, aber das Netzwerk startet immer noch nicht von alleine.
Übers Netz konnte ich dann plocate installieren, aber die 62 Pakete bleiben zurückbehalten. Beim Reboot ist das Netz aber wieder weg, und mir ist unklar, was dem Kleinen fehlt.
Ein anderer Verdächtiger war OpenIPMI, der Fußabdrücke im Log ließ. Lt. meinen Informationen kann man auf den aber getrost verzichten (bei Desktop/Laptop) und er ließ sich auch disablen (systemctl) und schweigt jetzt stille.
Da ich schon beim disablen war, habe ich auch alles, was von Virtualbox rumnölte, deaktiviert. Nur, um weniger Logmeldungen zu bekommen auch cups und postgresql, die aber keine Auffälligkeiten zeigten.
Irgendwo habe ich aufgeschnappt, dass man auch ein snap-refresh lostreten soll, und so tat ich das.
Weiter gebracht hat es mich nicht.
Journalctl meldet auch "profiles/sap/server.c:sap_server_register() Sap driver initialization failed." und ich weiß nicht, wozu das gut sein könnte - mit SAP habe ich nichts zu tun.

Dem USB-Device muss ich noch auf den Grund gehen, verspreche mir aber nichts für den Startup.
Eine Merkwürdigkeit war für mich, dass ich, obwohl ich nicht zum grafischen Login komme, nach dem Booten im Runlevel 5 bin. Ich habe versucht mit sudo systemctl isolate runlevel3.target; sudo systemctl isolate graphical.target; ob das System vielleicht, wenn das Netzwerk da ist, doch in Grafikmodus geht, aber das tut es nicht.

Bislang hatte ich, wenn ich mich recht erinnere, mit dist-upgrades immer Glück. Wenn es gar nicht zu heilen geht, dann werde ich wohl den Weg gehen müssen, alle wichtigen Konfigurationen zu finden und die zig Pakete neu zu installieren, die ich vorher hatte, und das System neu aufzusetzen versuchen. Merkwürdig ja, dass es mit dem Live-Stick gelaufen ist.
Der alte Kernel kommt beim Booten übrigens auch nicht weiter.

P.S.: Ich habe so einen gratis-bis-zu-5-Geräte Canonical-Account, wenn das jmd. interessiert.
P.S.2: Vor dem Schlafen habe ich nochmal vom Stick gebootet. Der Livekernel ist ein 6.8.0-41er, der vom Update ein 6.8.0-51er Kernel. Ob ich da Module vielleicht einfach mal rüberkopiere? Für die Netzwerkgeschichte habe ich aber keine Idee, wo ich ansetzen soll.
