Hallo Foristi,

Über die Aktualisierungsverwaltung wurde ich nach den letzten Updates auf Version 26.04 hingewiesen und wollte das Upgrade machen.

Nachdem es erst mal normal anlief, ploppten dann zwei Mitteilungen auf, die hier als Bilder beigefügt sind. Die Installation war damit abgebrochen.

Ich verstehe lediglich, dass "inoffizielle packages" installiert sind.

Ich habe keine Idee, was ich tun muss, um ein Upgrade zu machen.

Und dann schaun wir erstmal ob das System aktuell und upgradefähig ist. Und nein das machen wir nicht über die grafische Oberfläche mir klicky hier und klicky da.

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

Ich würde die ESM Repositories deaktivieren, Beschreibung im Wiki:

• Ubuntu Pro

... und dann mit APT im Terminal ein Downgrade der ESM Paket-Versionen auf die Paket-Versionen aus den Standard Noble Numbat Repostories machen lassen. Und dann mal gucken, was passiert beim Upgrade auf Resolute Raccoon.

Nachtrag: jetzt fällt mir noch auf, dass es gar kein offizielles Ubuntu Mate Resolute Raccoon gibt! Dann darf es auch nicht wundern, dass Ubuntu Pro wegen der ESM Paket-Versionen zickig ist. Nach Questing Quokka war Schluss:

Und nun?

Sollte ich mich schon mal mit den Vorschlägen von trollsportverein befassen oder sind vorher andere MAßnahmen zu ergreifen?

Zunächst musst du wohl mal so richtig gründlich aufräumen.

Da sind ja haufenweise Warnungen zu Packages die mehrfach konfiguriert wurden.

Evtl. ist da ein Backup deines /home-Verzeichnisses und eine Neuistallation vom Zeitaufwand aus betrachtet der schnellere und damit effektivere Weg als ein Release Upgrade.

System mit dem grub-customizer zerrammelt. Dazu find ich bestimmt bereits einen Thread in deiner History wo du bestimmt auch schon davor gewarnt wurdest das dir das spätestens beim Upgrade auf die Füsse fällt. Jetzt ist es soweit. Saubere Neuinstallation.

Nachtrag: Und da es von Ubuntu Mate kein 26.04 gibt nimmst du entweder ein anderes *buntu oder Debian Mate.

Hm, da bin ich ja ein wenig schlauer geworden...

Werde dann ggf eine Neuinstallation machen und / oder auf ein anderes System wechseln.

Da die 24.04 LTS ja noch etwas Zeit hat, bis die Unterstützungszeit vorbei ist - vielleicht tut sich ja bei MATE noch was hinsichtlich 26.04 LTS. Also warte ich erst mal ab....

Dann sage ich mal, für jetzt ist das Thema als gelöst zu betrachten.

Abwarten ist keine Option weil dein System ja bereits jetzt schon keine Updates mehr bekommt wie oben unschwer zu erkennen ist.

Selbst wenn das Ubuntu Mate Upgrade auf Resolute Raccoon im ersten Anlauf durch gerannt wäre, wäre es nicht unbedingt unwahrscheinlich, dass es anschließend zu Problemen gekommen wäre. Wir haben hier im Forum nun mindestens zwei User, die mit dem Lightdm unter Ubuntu MATE auf Resolute Raccoon Probleme haben, und erst mal einen schwarzen Bildschirm. Beide haben übrigens eine Intel Grafik.

Nach meinen Frickler-Verständnis scheint mur nun, dass es vermutlich eine unvorteilhafte Konfiguration der Systemd Unit ist, die für den Start des Lightdm zuständig ist. Denn bei einem späteren restart der Systemd Unit, die den Lightdm startet, funktioniert dann der Lightdm

Für Stonking Stingray sind auf den Ubuntu Server wieder ISO-Images für ein frisches Ubuntu Mate zu finden. Da das nicht mehr lange hin ist, bis zum Stonking Stingray Release, wäre es bei einer frischen Installation dann wohl sinnvoll, gleich zu den verfügbaren Ubuntu MATE Stonking Stingray daily-live ISO-Images zu greifen:
