Enable this option if you plan to run KDE applications as part of your Xfce Desktop session. This will notably increase the startup time, but on the other hand, KDE applications will startup faster. Some KDE applications may not work at all if you don't enable this option.

Bei mir ist nur die Gnome-Laufzeitumgebung aktiviert, da ich einige Gome-Anwendungen nutze. Das Ergebnis ist, daß die Anwendung etwas schneller startet, dafür das Booten etwas länger dauert. Der Unterschied ist allerdings kaum messbar, allemal wenn eine SSD im Spiel ist.
Aus dem KDE-Fundus verwende ich nur k3b, und das startet auch sehr schnell - ohne die KDE-Laufzeitumgebung.
Mit dem Betrieb von dropbox hat das alles nichts zu tun.
