Auf meinem Samsung Notebook funktioniert das integrierte WLAN unter Ubuntu höchst unzuverlässig - unter Win7 aber einwandfrei. Kann man da noch etwas einstellen? Alternativ könnte ich den Fritz-Stick zum Laufen bringen, der ja defaultmäßig von Ubuntu nicht unterstützt wird. Wie das geht weiß ich, weil schon mehrfach gemacht. Aber bevor ich das probiere die entscheidende Frage: Geht 2x WLAN überhaupt? Bzw. kann man da gezielt ein- und ausschalten. Den Fritz-Stick kann man abziehen, aber das integrierte Teil? Über ein paar Hinweise freut sich Jürgen

Aha, der recht neu Atheros AR9462-Chipsatz. Bluetoth funktioniert ebenfalls noch nicht. Für WLAN den Treiber von Linux Wireless installieren. compat-drivers-2012-10-08-c.tar.gz soll funktionieren. Zusätzlich die Firmware für ath3k (Bluetooth) herunterladen, entpacken und den Ordner ar3k nach ~/lib/firmware kopieren. linux-firmware.git - Direktlink ⮷ Treiberoption festlegen:
echo "options ath9k btcoex_enable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf Hintergrund ist 1024884. PS: Ping über bestehende LAN-Verbindung bringt natürlich nichts. Das eigene WLAN-Netz (Cell) wurde nicht markiert, ist aber wohl "MRW47". Ändere die Verschlüsselung des Routers noch auf sicheres WPA2-AES und verwende nicht gemischt WPA1/2

Man könnte zunächst auch nur die Firmware für ath3k installieren, die Moduloption setzen und die Verschlüsselung des Routers umstellen. Dann erneut probieren. Der Empfang ist momentan allerdings recht schwach, was wirklich auch am Treiber liegen könnte.

Das Verzeichnis gibt es schon: vorher löschen oder zusammenführen? Die Treiberoption auf alle Fälle mit ath9k (neun ka)? Und das ganze Prozedere will in Linux Wireless beschrieben komplett durchführen? Ich würde die Antworten "löschen / ja / ja" möchte aber vor Fehlbedienung doch nochmals nachgefragt haben. Einen lieben Gruß

Hallo ... Alles gemäß Linux Wireless durchgeführt - erfolgreich! Und WLAN tut.
Prima, Schritt eins erfolgreich ☺ Das neue Modul ath9k ist allerdings nur für den momentan verwendeten Kernel installiert. Installationspaket also nicht löschen und nach Kernelupgrade ein ...
cd ~/compat-drivers-2012-10-08-c # Pfadangabe entsprechend ergänzen
make clean
make
sudo make install
# ergänzend noch
sudo depmod -a
sudo update-initramfs -u
... unter dem neuen Kernel durchführen. Bei Problemen bei der älteren Kernelversion bleiben. Wegen Bluetooth noch das von AceLan Kao (acelankao) bereitgestellte und gepatchte Installationspaket (ar9462-dkms_1.1_all.deb) verwenden. Auch hier auf Aktualisierungen achten.
Ich hatte ath3k damals ja manuell gepatcht (siehe Bugreport), was sich nun durch das bereitgestellte dkms-Installationspaket erübrigt. Dann testen. Auf Updates achten. Log auf Fehler überprüfen und BT testen. Bei Fehlern die Firmware ggf. ersetzen, da ja älter als die aus dem Firmware-git.

Hallo, stehe vor selbem Problem. Ist das nach wie vor die einfachste Methode, um dauerhaft vernünftig WLAN zu bekommen oder gibt es schon ne bequemere Möglichkeit.

Ich mache das automatisch nach jedem kernelupdate - man gewöhnt sich daran. Ich weiß leider auch nicht, wo ich nachsehen kann, ob das Problem schon endgültig beseitigt ist.

Und nun funktioniert der hier beschriebene Patch mit dem neuesten Update nicht mehr - kein WLAN mehr möglich - zum ersten Mal, dass ich mit Ubuntu unzufrieden bin ☹
Ich kann nicht mal die Fehlermeldungen hier posten, die sich bei "make" ergeben, weil ich muss das Notebook mit Win8 booten, damit ich zumindest mal diese Mitteilung schreiben kann. Also Warnung an alle, die das noch vor sich haben!
