Hallo zusammen,

also ich habe folgendes Problem: auf zwei verschiedenen (Leistung ähnlich) Lenovo-Laptops stürzt (vermutlich) der Fenstermanager recht häufig ab. Zuerst bemerkte ich es auf manchen Amazon-Seiten, z.B. wenn Multimedia-Inhalte eingebettet waren. Der Bildschirm wird schwarz, oben links blinkt ein Cursor, nach etwa 1-2 Minuten erscheint wieder Anmeldefenster von Ubuntu. Nach einer Weile trat das Phänomen auch z.B. beim Öffnen von PDF-Dokumenten auf, auf einigen anderen Internetseiten (ohne Multimedia), dann auch z.B. beim Öffnen der Synaptik-Paketverwaltung, vor allem wenn ich auf den "Neu laden"-Button klicke. Da ich im Netz nichts hilfreiches dazu gefunden habe, bin ich auf dem einen Rechner zu Mint gewechselt, wodurch das Problem dort nicht mehr auftrat, auf dem anderen habe ich zusätzlich XFCE eingerichtet. Damit kommen diese harten Abstürze nicht mehr, aber manches funktioniert trotzdem nicht zufriedenstellend. Wenn ich z.B. die Aktuallisierungsverwaltung starte, schließt sie sich nach wenigen Sekunden von alleine, ohne etwas gemacht zu haben. In dem Fall muss ich es über das Terminal machen. Es ist eine Notlösung, aber am liebsten wäre mir, wenn Ubuntu wieder mit Mate einwandfrei funktionieren würde. Wie kann ich das Problem beheben?

Ich habe so einen Absturz vorhin erfolgreich provoziert. Wonach sollte ich im Protokoll suchen, um hier irgendeine brauchbare Information zu liefern? Hier ist etwas mit Shutdown und Error, was etwa im Zeitfenster des Absturzes liegt.

Stelle mal die Fensterverwaltung in >Mate-Tweak< um. Vorschlag wäre >Hybrid<

Hybrid hat leider nichts gebracht, also habe ich alle anderen Möglichkeiten in Mate-Tweak->Fensterverwaltung durchgeklickert und den Absturz provoziert. Nur bei Compiz blieb der Absturz aus.

Hast du zufällig eine nähere Erklärung, was genau mein Rechner gemacht hat und woran es letztlich lag? Das fänd ich interessant.

Ich bin aus einem anderen Grund vom Windowmanager Marco weggegangen. Bei Compiz hatte ich nach einiger Zeit Bildstörungen. Sollte das bei dir dann auch auftreten kannst du metacity installieren und mit:

gsettings set org.mate.session.required-components windowmanager metacity

aktivieren.
