Hallo!

Ich habe mir vor kurzem ein Notebook zugelegt. Das Sony VAIO VGN-FE21B. Unter Linux funktioniert eigentlich so gut wie fast alles. Aber eben auch nur "fast". Probleme habe ich derzeit mit dem Modem. Eingebaut ist Hardwaretechnisch kein eigenständiges Modem, sondern eines, das so wie ich das verstanden habe mit der Soundkarte zusammenspielt, und eher als Softwaremodem bezeichnet werden kann. Hat jemand evtl. schon was mit HDA (High Definition Audio) Modems von Intel gemacht?

Infos zu meinem System:

/dev/modem gibt es, ist mit /dev/ttySL0 Verknüpft, diese gibt es aber nicht.
Autoerkennung unter "Netzwerk" schlägt fehl.

ich hab das sellbe chipset von intel bei mir laufen auch nur sound und modem nicht.
Läuft bei dir der sound ?

bei mir erkennt der die soundkarte glaub ich...aber sound kann ich trotzdem nicht hören:

habe mit xmms und allen progs die ich hab probiert (mit oss,alsa,es..)

bin verzweifelt. bei mir steckst der chipsatz 945GM von Intel in einem Uniwill M31i3 und läuft bis auf den sound und modem.

Bitte um Hilfe

Meine Erfahrungen mit internen Laptopmodems sind schlecht (Sony PCG-FX 601) bzw schlecht (Asus A68g).

Mit Geduld, Hartnäckigkeit und v.a. Glück kann man hier was finden: http://start.at/modem (die deutsche Seite klappt irgendwie nicht) oder auch hier http://www.linmodems.org/ oder hier: http://tuxmobil.org/modem_linux.html .

Mein derzeitiger (Asus) hat auch eine Kombination Sound/Modem, die mit lspci aber so auftauchte:

bis ich im BIOS das Modem abschaltete (oder liegt es vielleicht am Wechsel von U.-5.04 auf U-6.06?) - jetzt taucht das Modem als seperater Eintrag nicht mehr auf.

Auf einer der oben genannten Seiten (ich glaube der ersten) gibt es ein Tool, um den Chipsatz genauer zu ermitteln.
Bei mir ist es ein hsfmodem, für das es einen Testtreiber gibt, der maximal 14.4k bringt.
Wenn der Chipsatz bei Dir auch auf dieses hsfmodem hinweist, empfiehlt es sich, diesen erst zu testen.
Wenn er klappt kann man sich immer noch überlegen, ob man den ungedrosselten Treiber kaufen will (jo - der kostet Geld).

Für den Hausgebrauch ist ein externes Serielles Modem (preiswert bei Ebay, da viele Leute zu DSL wechseln) oft eine Alternative.
