Hallo,

zugegeben, ich habe gespielt. Genauer gesagt wegen dem externen Monitor-Ausgang am Notebook.

Nun erhalte ich immer

Fatal server error: no screens found

Habe alles mögliche installiert, gelöscht, re-installiert usw. Aber nichts was ich gefunden habe hilft. Auch "nvidia-current" raus/rein war nicht hilfreich.

Wer hat einen Tipp für mich?

ich weiss zwar nicht was da Informationen wie Hersteller, CPU, RAM, Grafikkarte usw. nutzen sollen.

Die Meldung besagt wohl das die Grafik-Karte nicht erkannt wird und ich wollte nur wissen, wie ich die wiederbelebe.

Aber dann mache ich einen Deckel drauf.

Hallo

Wenn man ein Problem mit der Grafikkarte hat ist es wohl selbstverständlich das modell der Karte zunennen. Wenn du sagst du hast "gespielt" ist das wenig hilfreich, du solltest schon sagen können was du getan hast. Und anstatt nur die allerletzte zeile der /var/log/Xorg.log zu nennen könntest du mal die ganze Datei posten.

- setzt voraus, das man die Grafikkarte kennt. Ist irgendwas von Nvidia; wie im ersten posting gennant. Keine Ahnung, wie ich das genauer herausfinde.

Es kommt ja auch nie ein DAU auf die Idee, etwas anzuklicken was fett als Wichtig markiert ist. Vielleicht sollten wir die Stickies mal mit 'Geheim' markieren um das Interesse zu wecken... 🙄

Was will man auch in einer recht schlecht gepflegten offiziellen Wiki wenn wir eine bessere haben - zumal sich da zu proprietären Treiber kaum was finden lässt 🙄

Hallo,

vorweg: Mein Problem an der Kiste ist, dass da ein LVM über mehrere Platten eingebunden ist. Das habe ich vor (3-4 Jahren???) gemacht und keinen Schimmer mehr, wie. Zwischendurch mehrmals die Platten geclont und vergrössert. Und diese Installation will ich vermeinden.

Und Danke für die Geduld mit einem alten Mann!

so in der Art: "apt-get purge nvidea-current" und "apt-get install nvidea" und diverse Tipps aus unterschiedlichen Quellen

Das sollte nur bedeuten, dass ich die Verfügbarkeit der /var/log immer nicht denke. So DAU bin nun auch nicht 😀

schon, nur das Finden kommt nach dem Suchen und dazu oft die passenden Suchbegriffe in "denglisch" . Mal an einen "Suchbaum" gedacht, der da beginnt "Nix geht mehr" und dann DAUs führt? Nur so am Rade..

da war ich schon und was sagt mir das? Leider nichts. Kann weder Altgrichisch noch Kernel-LogISCH. Ich könnte diese seitelange Liste hier natürlich posten, aber soll ich das?


Anders gefragt: Kann ich die hardwarenahen Teile mit einer Live-CD neu installieren ohne mein LVM zu zerstören?

Das war eigentlich auch der Gedanke dahinter, besser zu viel Logs als zu wenig 😉

Ich habe zwar keine großen Erfahrungen mit LVM, aber ich würde erwarten, dass ähnlich wie bei einem Software RAID das ganze in Form von Metadaten auf die Platte geschrieben wird, welche die LiveCD wohl erkennen sollte.

Zu der Neuinstallation: Ich starte die Ubuntu-Live, wähle "testen". Anschließend "installieren". Aber da kann ihc immer nur die Platte neu installieren und damit mein LVM zerstören. Oder wo kann ich "System reparieren" auswählen?

Im Log steht schon mal rein gar nichts zum Modul... Vermutlich wird dies erst durch den X Treiber geladen - oder es ist gar nicht vorhanden, aber ich glaube dann wäre die Fehlermeldung eine andere.

Mir fällt da gerade auf, dass der installierte Treiber neuer ist als die aus den Quellen, du hast nicht zufällig versucht den Treiber direkt von der Nvidia Seite zu installieren, oder?

Ich tippe mal darauf, dass das Kernel Modul einfach in einer anderen Version vorliegt. Wenn der derzeitige Treiber aus einem PPA stammt, sollte sich dann das Problem über DKMS recht einfach beseitigen lassen. Ansonsten sollte die manuell installierte Version am besten zuerst einmal wieder vom System runter.

Folgendes gemacht:

apt-get purge nvidia-current

apt-get install nvidia-current

Nun steht nach ESC unter dem Ubunto-Startbild mit den lfd. Punkten als letztes "Starting X display manager xdm". Ob am Zeilenende das [OK] dazugehört ist mir unklar, da ich sehr klein Schrift und hohe Bildschirmauflösung habe. Ich gehe aber mal davon aus.

In /var/log/Xorg.0.log steht weiterhin Fatal server error: [ 32.592] no screens found

Geholfen hat letztendlich

apt-get purge dkms*
apt-get purge nvidia*
apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video*
apt-get purge xdm
apt-get purge lightdm
apt-get purge gdm
reboot
apt-get install lightdm
