Hallo Community,

ich benutze an meinem Arbeitsplatz Ubuntu, da ich ein Programm benötige, welches für Windows nicht existiert. Da es in meinem Unternehmen untersagt ist, ein anderes Betriebssystem als Windows auf den Rechnern zu installieren, boote ich Ubuntu 11.10 von einer externen Festplatte. Des weiteren habe ich mit diesem Rechner keinen Internetzugang, da auch nur Windows-Computer in das Netzwerk eingeloggt werden dürfen.

Mein Problem ist: ich habe zwei Monitore, beide sind an den Computer angeschlossen, Ubuntu erkennt allerdings nur einen davon. Unter Systemeinstellungen → Monitore wird dieser Monitor als "Unbekannt" benannt, wenn ich "Bildschirme erkennen" drücke passiert nichts. Wenn ich den Befehl

xrandr --auto

eingebe kommt folgende Meldung:

xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

(Laut Wiki sollte so eigentlich der angeschlossene Bildschirm erkannt werden)

Der Befehl

xrandr

liefert mir die selbe Fehlermeldung wie oben, jedoch mit folgendem Zusatz:

Hast du den proprietären Grafiktreiber installiert oder wird der freie nouveau Treiber verwendet? Ersterer kann über RandR keinen erweiterten Desktop einrichten weil er nicht einmal RandR 1.2 vollständig unterstützt, mit dem muss man das Konfigurationsprogramm von Nvidia nutzen und deren eigenen Modi TwinView einstellen.

ich habe die Festplatte sozusagen "betriebsfertig" so bekommen, wie sie jetzt ist, deshalb weiß ich nicht genau, was installiert ist und was nicht (ich kenne mich allgemein mit Linux / Ubuntu noch nicht gut aus).

Unter den Systeminformationen wird im Reiter "Grafik" angezeigt: Treiber: Unbekannt Umgebung: Standart

Gibt es einen Befehl, um Herauszufinden, welcher Grafiktreiber installiert ist? Wo kann man das Konfigurationsprogramm von Nvidia herunterladen?

Ich habe gerade im Wiki über "nouveau" gelesen, dass: "Der Treiber ist bei einer Standard-Ubuntu-Installation (ab Lucid Lynx 10.04) bereits vorinstalliert. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein, kann der Treiber über die Paketverwaltung installiert ^[1] werden. Folgendes Paket wird benötigt:

•xserver-xorg-video-nouveau"

Also müsste er ja eigentlich installiert sein... Hat jemand eine Ahnung woran es liegt?

Es läuft Nvidia, nicht Nouveau. Führe mal aus:

rm ~/.config/monitors.xml

(entfernt eine eventuell vorhandene/störende Konfigurationsdatei, angelegt von der Monitot GUI, die nicht benutzt werden sollte beim Betrieb des NVIDIA Treibers). Dann zeig' mal die xorg.conf

cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

und poste die Bezeichnung der angeschlossenen Monitore.

Hier die Ausgabe:

Gut, die monitors.xml ist nun weg.
Jetzt mal Ausloggen/Einloggen, dann ausführen (beide Monitore angeschlossen natürlich):

sudo nvidia-xconfig --twinview

Reboot/oder X Restart, dann starte nvidia-settings:

Werden dort beide Monitore aufgeführt bzw. kannst Du sie wunschgemäß konfigurieren?

Wenn nicht, poste wieder die (neue) xorg.conf und verrate mal, um welche Monitore es sich handelt.

Hallo realzippy,

du hast mich schon einen entscheidenden Schritt weiter gebracht: Beide Bildschirme haben jetzt ein Bild! Dafür vielen Dank!!

In den settings werden auch beide Bildschirme angezeigt, sie heißen:

1. FUS B22W-5 ECO 1680x1050

2. FUS P19-2 1280x1024

Allerdings sind die Bildschirme vertauscht!! Also wenn ich die Maus im linken Bildschirm habe und an den LINKEN Rand fahre, komme ich am rechten Bildschirm am RECHTEN Rand heraus. Sobald ich versuche die Monitore zu vertauschen, friert das Bild ein und ich kann nichts mehr machen außer den Computer auszuschalten. Ich habe auch versucht die Steckplätze der Monitore zu tauschen, allerdings mit genau dem selben Ergebnis.

im Terminal wird übrigens die Fehlermeldung

(nvidia-settings:1739): Gtk-WARNING: **: Im Modulpfad >>pixmap<< konnte keine Themen-Engine gefunden werden,

diese Meldung wird viermal hintereinander ausgegeben...
